"Is that a challenge?" I felt my brows rise up in amusement when I heard her.

"You can interpret my words however you wish, your highness." Nagbigay siya ng isang maliit na tango sa akin, at tinignan ko ng maigi yung itsura ng mukha niya.

She told me that she likes me. Her tense demeanor when I was near her earlier confirmed those words.

But now she's telling me that even though she likes me, she wants to run away?

Alam kong tinatago niya yung emosyon niya, but to me, everything was clear as day. Magkasama kami sa iisang kwarto, but I can feel her wanting to get away from me.

I knew that she was somehow inconsistent for a woman.

Words of her deeds are well-known in the empire, and every time I see her, I could only see lust and objectification in her eyes.

So how come that expression in her eyes changed?

It wasn't as shallow as it was before. Is it because she almost died? Nagbago ba talaga siya dahil doon?

"Gusto mo bang ilagay ko 'to sa isang kontrata?" I asked for her opinion, because once a contract is formed, there would be no way to change it.

I'll be using a contract that is bonded with magic after all.

"Hindi na po kailangan, mahal na prinsipe." Nagtaka ako sa mga sinabi niya.

"I have faith in your words." Hindi ko alam kung anong magiging reaksyon ko sa narinig ko sa kanya.

Simple words have no meaning in something like this. Words are worthless. Walang pinanghahawakan ang mga salita. And she's telling me that she wants to put her trust in that?

"I know that his highness is a very trustworthy person. Pero kung balak niyong sirain yung tiwalang binigay ko sa inyo, then that would be your fault, not mine." Medyo naiintindihan ko na yung mga sinabi niyang minsan ay baliw siya.

Pero nagulat ako nung nagpatuloy pa rin siya.

"Because there's nothing wrong in trusting someone, your highness."

She wore a subtle smile in her face, that I doubt that the lady herself was even aware that she was smiling.

Her words were naive. It was naive.. and yet..

I wanted to make myself believe that that was true.

"Alright. Then, I guess that's it." I pushed the thought out of my head, and ended the discussion there.
