There's not much to do after he leaves. I don't even have the strength to finish my cup of coffee. His cologne lingers in the apartment and it makes me nauseous. All I can think of while I lie on my bed is, he's back and he knows where I live.
What am I going to do now?
The next day after I shower, I go into Bronwyn's room. I'm surprised to see her awake, sitting at her desk and putting makeup on. "Hey." I say after knocking on the door and walking in. "Hi bubs. What's up?" Her lips part slightly as she applies a coat of mascara on her eyelashes. "I'm going out with a friend. I was hoping you could help me with an outfit?"
"You don't have work today?"
"I do, but I'm skipping." Bronwyn has the widest grin on her face after I say that. "Look at you, skipping work. I'm proud of you Quinn." I roll my eyes but chuckle. She gets up and walks to her closet. "Okay, let's see..." She rummages around before she pulls out a short green plaid dress and a pale yellow cardigan.
She continues with her makeup while I put the dress on. It stops by my thighs and it hugs my waist and thighs. I put the yellow cardigan on and show her.
"How do I look?"
"You look adorable babe." She stands up again and pulls the right side of the cardigan down so my shoulder is showing. "What shoes are you gonna wear?" She asks. "Probably pumps?" She shakes her head. "No fucking way. Those shoes are way out of fashion." She presents silver strappy heels. "Wear those and I'll do your hair and makeup."
"I don't want to wear too much makeup today." I tell her as I put the heels on. She nods and gets on the bed behind me to brush my hair. She teases the ends before putting it up in a messy bun and letting two strands fall on either side of my face.
She puts mascara on my eyelashes and swipes clear lip gloss on my lips before dabbing some highlighter on my nose and cheeks. "There you go. You look stunning."
"Thank you. I'd probably be looking like an old lady with the outfits I have." She laughs and nods. "We definitely need to go shopping. Maybe Tobias can take us." She suggests as she goes back to doing her makeup. "Corbin was here." She freezes and turns to me slowly.
"Corbin from school?" I nod. "What did he say? Did he do anything to you? Quinn, why didn't you tell me?"
"I'm telling you now. He showed up after you left." Her fists clench. "That bastard. He better show up again so I can kick his ass. I promise to keep the door locked at all times. He's not gonna set foot here again." She pulls me in for a hug. "I hope so."

I make my way to a nearby park where Lucky said I should meet her. It's as if Spring is already here. The flowers around the park are fully bloomed, showing an array of purple, pink and yellow flowers. The park is a bit empty except for a few people. There aren't many children and I assume they're at school.
I spot Lucky sitting on a bench with a bright blue notebook in her lap that she's writing in. "Hey." I say. She closes the book and places it down next to her before jumping up to hug me. "Hi Quinn. You look so pretty." She compliments. "You too." I tell her.
She's wearing a short white mini skirt and a pink puffer jacket with a white fluffy scarf around her neck that almost covers her mouth.
She's wearing white and black platform boots and her hair is in a ponytail. "I hope you didn't wait too long. I couldn't walk fast in these heels." I say as we sit down. "Don't worry. My boyfriend dropped me here a few minutes ago."
"What's that?" I ask, pointing to the blue book that's back on her lap. "Oh, it's my diary."
"You still have one of those?"
"Of course! I have to document my life." She giggles and I smile.
"Let's get started on that Instagram account, shall we?" I kinda forgot about that and now I remember that she was supposed to tell me something about Ji and I. After what happened yesterday, I'm not that interested anymore. I know where I stand with him and I'd rather move on and forget about it.
I take my phone out. I downloaded Instagram yesterday so I go into the app. It asks for my email address and password which I put in before it asks me to input a username.
"Do you have any nicknames?" Lucky asks as she leans against my shoulder. "No. Can't I just use my name?"
"You could but that's too bland. Let me search for something interesting on Google for you."
She types something and studies the screen. "How about, Queen Quinn?" I wince. "That's way too cringy." I answer. "I'll just say QuinnP. Not too extravagant and nice and easy." I say.
"Okay, I like it." I input my new username and I'm surprised to see it's not taken. I choose a profile picture, a selfie I took of myself last year in the bathroom at Golden Ray. "No, that's not gonna work. It's pretty but it's like all the other girls. Take a picture of you now and use it." Says Lucky.
"But I'm not wearing a lot of makeup."
"Exactly." I see her point. I position myself and take a selfie of me smiling. We study it together and she shakes her head again. "Let me take one."
I hand her my phone and smile as she snaps a picture. "Perfect. Lemme set this as your profile pic." After a few seconds, she gives me my phone and I look at my new profile. "Go into settings and put on dark mode cause this light mode just isn't it." I do as she says. "You can add whatever you want to your bio or you can leave it empty. Are there any people you'd like to follow? You can follow me and I'll follow you back."
I don't know if Bronwyn has Instagram so I think I'll just follow my mom and Lucky. Maybe a few celebrities too if I feel like it. "My username is LuckyyCharm." She tells me and I type it into the search bar. Her profile comes up and I'm surprised at how many followers she has and how nice her pictures are. I press the follow button and like her recent post. "That was taken at the club right?" She nods. "My boyfriend took it. I'll follow you back right now. Who else are you gonna follow?"
"I wanna follow my mom but I don't know her username."
"Just type her name in."
I type my mom's name in and I see the blue verified check mark next to her name. I go into her profile and follow her. "Woah, that's your mom?" Lucky asks as she looks at my phone. "I've heard about her! The famous fashion designer! No fucking way Quinn!" I chuckle. "Yeah, that's my mom."
"What should I post?" I ask. "You could take a couple of pictures now." I have pictures of my mom and I that I'd like to post. The ones that she sent me before she left.
"I have pictures of my mom and I." She directs me to the plus sign and I search my gallery for the pictures. "Ooh, that's a nice picture of you and Ji. He's on Instagram too, you should follow him. I'm sure he'll follow you back."
"I'd rather not."
"Which reminds me, I still have to tell you about what he said. I heard there's trouble in paradise." I turn to her. "What?" How could she possible know? Did Ji tell her?
"We'll talk about that after you post. You can post multiple pictures by clicking on that button. You can also tag your mom in a photo so she sees it."
I didn't want to hear anything about Ji but now I'm more than curious. Just how much does Lucky know? Is Ji telling her about us? "Hey, are you even listening?" She clicks her fingers to snap me out of my thoughts. "Oh, yeah I am." I answer, turning my attention back to my phone. She shows me how to tag my mom and type a caption before I post the picture. "That's it?" She nods. "Pretty easy. You can also add pictures to your story but we'll talk about that later. You hungry? There's a café nearby."
I shake my head. "It's alright. I, uh, didn't think to bring any money."
She stands up. "No problem. It's on me."
