"I'll be staying at Buck's place. He lives right by the beach we saw him at so that's a bonus." My mom smiles up at me as she packs her clothes back into her suitcase.
I'm standing in the doorway of the guestroom. "Are you sure?" She nods. "Of course. I don't want to intrude especially after what Buck saw in the kitchen." I groan and hide my face after noticing her smirk. "He told you?"
"By accident. Don't worry, I'm not mad. You're an adult now and it's about time you start looking for a nice, handsome man that will treat you like a queen." She zips her suitcase shut and stands up before walking to me. "I'm still sorry about your ex. I hope he gets a life sentence. I can't believe he treated you that way. I think Ji is different. I see the way he looks at you sometimes."
"Huh? How does he look at me?"
"He looks at you as if you're his whole world. And I would know. I look at Buck the same way." I can't help the smile that appears on my face.
She's right. Ji is different. And I know he's not lying when he says he likes me. I just hope this won't end up to be another bad relationship.
"And what about work? When's your next fashion show?"
"In a few days time but I asked to skip this one so I can spend more time with you. And it gives me ample time to think of more designs. Don't worry about me, okay? You just focus on yourself." She pulls me in for a hug and I find comfort in her embrace.
"I'll text you the address once we get there."
"Alright." She picks her suitcase up and I help her carry it downstairs.
I don't spot Leo or Holt anywhere but I know they're still here. Buck and Ji are at the door and Buck takes my mom's suitcase from her.
"Thanks for letting us stay here." My mom tells Ji. "No problem Miss Platten. You're always welcome here." Buck smiles at me and there's a car hoot outside. "That's our Uber. Thanks again." He says as Ji opens the door. My mom pulls me in for another hug.
"Love you."
"Love you. Text me when you get there."
"I will." She responds as she walks out after Buck.
Ji closes the door. "I'm gonna be here shortly. Just wanna make a reservation."
"Reservation?"
He nods. "Yeah. For our date." He leans closer and places a kiss on my cheek before heading upstairs. I make my way to the couch and put the TV on before sitting down.
That must mean we're going somewhere fancy. I don't know if I should be excited or nervous.
I surf through the channels before settling on a somewhat interesting movie to watch. I hear footsteps and Leo and Holt appear, sitting on the other couch. "Where's Lumi?" I ask them. "Fast asleep. We're actually good babysitters." Leo boasts while Holt rolls his eyes. "You did all the work. Don't rope me into this."
I chuckle. They're actually a really funny pair. At first glance they do look scary, I'll admit. Holt is really tall and lean. Much more muscular than he looks and he always has this weird smile on his face as if he's got something hidden up his sleeve.
Leo himself looks unapproachable. He's got a blank stare and his eyes always seem to be watching you, calculating your every move.
But I'm surprised at how laid back they are. They really mean know harm and they've apparently been friends with Ji for a long time. I remember seeing them both in those photos I saw on Ji's desk.
Actually, now seems like a great time to figure out some of Ji's past. I can ask them.
"What're you watching Quinny?" Holt asks. "Some movie. It doesn't seem as interesting as I thought. How long have you guys known Ji?"
