After a long debate on deciding who's going to pay, my mom wins and we're off. Bronwyn pushes a button in the car and the roof opens, letting the wind hit our faces. Destiny's child is playing on the radio and the three of us sing along to it. We're having a blast and I'm more than happy to see Bronwyn and my mom getting along.
It's not long before we cruise down a quiet neighborhood and Bronwyn turns the volume down. She stops in front of a small house and closes the roof before we get out. The house has a huge metal gate and Bronwyn rings a bell.
"I hope she's home." My mom says. The door to the house opens and Sasha sticks her head out. Her face scrunches up when she sees us and she walks towards the gate.
"And what is this?" She asks.
"Hi Sasha. It's me, Charlotte. I don't know if you remember me." My mom says. Sasha eyes her and me before she takes out a key and unlocks the gate. We wait for her to lock the gate before she leads us into her house. The living room is surprisingly large with laminated flooring and a dining room table and chairs next to a window. The house smells like food.
Bronwyn takes a seat on one of the couches and my mom and I wait before Sasha tells us to sit. She takes her apron off and sits on the one seater couch. I sit next to Bronwyn and my mom sits next to me.
"The food smells lovely." My mom comments. "And I'm certain you're not here for the food." Answers Sasha and Bronwyn sighs loudly. "You don't have to be so rude." My mom shakes her head. "It's alright." She turns to Sasha. "This is my daughter, Quinn. I remember telling you I was pregnant back then." Sasha's eyes narrow. "If you came here to talk about him then you might as well leave. I don't want to hear about it."
"I told them about him already. That they're half sisters. I hoped the two of us could stay in contact again and visit each other. I don't care about him, he's an asshole. But there's no reason for us not to get along."
Sasha's eyes scan me. "She looks just like him." My mom sighs. "She does."
Sasha looks at Bronwyn. "I'm surprised you're here. Come to apologize?" Bronwyn clicks her tongue. "I'm not apologizing for anything. You're lucky I'm even sitting here right now." Sasha scowls. "You selfish girl. I've done everything I could for you and this is how you treat me?" Bronwyn chuckles.
"You told me on multiple occasions that I'm useless. You obviously harbour nothing but hatred for me." Sasha is fuming and my mom steps in.
"I had no idea there was this much hostility between you but there's no need for it. We'll take our leave now."
Sasha shakes her head. "No. The party has just begun. Now you can see what type of a person Bronwyn really is. Is she really the type of friend you want to keep around?" She questions me but Bronwyn chides in before I can answer. "You're a snake. All I wanted from you was love. You're always blaming me and saying I'm the reason why my dad left when I didn't even know him. That's terribly unfair of you to say."
"I did love you." Sasha hisses.
"Bullshit." Bronwyn spits. "You went against me and brought boys to the house. You would go out to parties dressed like a slut!" Sasha shouts.
I glance at my mom and she shrugs. "Because you kept me inside the house my entire fucking life!" She gasps and her hand immediately goes to her stomach. "Are you okay?" I move closer to her as she winces in pain. "I'm fine." I shake my head. "No you're not. Is it your stomach? Should I call Tobias?"
"Tobias doesn't even know how to get here."
"Where's your phone?" I try to grab her bag but she swats me away. "I'm fine." But she winces again and leans back against the couch. "Should I call Tobias or the hospital?" I question her. "What's going on?" I hear my mom ask. "She's pregnant."
