George POV
"You asked her out?" A wide-eyed Lee asked as we tossed our firecracker ball around in the courtyard.
"Yes, I did. I promised her the whole deal, candlelight dinners, parties, pubs, everything. She wanted none of it. Pucey took her to the Three Broomsticks! I have taken her there a million times! I don't see why she would want to go out with Pucey. I am going to tell her I love her and put an end to this madness. " I ranted as I threw the ball to Fred at top speed.
"Slow down, lover boy. You don't want to scare her off. The girl has never dated anyone before." Fred said.
"She is one commitment-phobic woman. No offense to you George, but who in their right mind would turn down Oliver Wood?" Lee chimed in.
"How the hell did Pucey get her to agree to it?" It was beyond any logic. Fucking Ravenclaws were so difficult to read.
"If you ask me, he has been going at her for the past four years, before he got her to cave. Speak about Slytherin ambition." Fred scoffed.
As if on cue, the Slytherin team emerged from the castle. Dressed in their emerald green robes, each clutching their Nimbus 2001s, they were headed out for Quidditch practice. Speak of the devil. The sight of their emerald Quidditch uniform made the hair on the back of my neck stand upright. I felt a rush of adrenaline through my body. Seeing Flint lead the pack made me plain mad. He should have been expelled after what he did to Maya.
My eyes caught Pucey adjusting his belt. I scanned his face for any sign of the scorpion concoction I had spiked Maya's lip gloss with. The area around his lips was fine, but as he turned a large red blotch was visible on his cheek. My heart sank into my stomach.
She kissed his cheek. But she kisses Fred's cheeks all the time, and Ron's, and Percy's even Ginny's. It doesn't mean anything. Pig face didn't even get a smooch from her. I am going to be the first one to snog her out of her senses. Her first kiss is calling out my name loud and clear.
I felt my spirits rise again.
Fred tensed up beside me. He eagerly waited for the team to cross our path. He was ready for a standoff.
"It must require some skill to get 18 bones broken at the same time." Fred taunted Flint.
"Adrian's girl is something, isn't she? I have learned my lesson." Flint grinned.
She is not Adrian's girl! My insides yelled but I didn't want to give Flint the satisfaction of my reaction so I simply smirked pretending to ignore his remark.
"I would have broken a couple of bones myself if Maya hadn't already done such a marvelous job." I spat.
"Let's get to practice." Pucey emerged from the back trying to coax his team away from us.
"What happened to your face, ugly?" I asked Pucey.
He simply smiled at me shaking his head from side to side as he continued to walk away.
"It's strange, how polar opposite you and your best friend's views are. Bagnold couldn't get her hands off Mr. Ugly at potions this morning." Flint rushed to defend his vice-captain and the rest of the team hooted.
"Let's not waste any more time boys." Pucey attempted to drag Flint away from us.
"Oh no, our views are pretty similar. I can't wait to get my hands on skirt-chaser either." I snarled.
"Georgie, Maya did a remarkable job on Flint, but I am not quite satisfied with it. I bet we could do one better. You watch out during the match Flint, I will be the one with the bat." Fred threatened.
