George POV
I watched in horror as a bludger crashed into Maya's spine and she let go of her broom. There was pin-drop silence in the entire stadium as she fell. I dove, in an attempt to save her. My heart was beating outside my chest. I soon realized my broom was no match for gravity.
But magic was. Professor Dumbledore broke her fall. She levitated a few feet above the ground unconscious. Her broom hit the ground with a loud thud and smashed into two. Madam Pomfrey rushed in with a stretcher on which she placed Maya's limp body and carried her back to the infirmary. I tossed my broom aside and followed.
"The match isn't over Weasley!" Katie spat from midair. I glared at Fred who avoided eye contact.
"I am sorry George, but the match must go on." Angelina looked at me apologetically.
The Ravenclaw team was devastated. They attempted to follow Maya to the infirmary but were summoned back by Madam Hooch.
My stomach churned and I felt sick. What am I doing here? Maya needs me! Never before in my life had I been so stressed. My brain throbbed in my heavy head. I struggled to maintain balance as I mounted my broom and kicked off the ground.
"I am sorry, mate. I didn't know..." Fred flew to me.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME BEFORE I KNOCK OFF YOUR HEAD WITH MY BAT," I yelled and zoomed south increasing the distance between us.
"I am sorry," Oliver Wood began to comfort me.
"JUST END THIS FUCKING GAME, WOOD." I snapped.
The rest of the match was hazy. I circled the field resisting the urge to blow my own team members with a bludger. The Ravenclaw team had grown furious. They hurled abuses at us left right and center. Never before had I seen the nerds erupt with rage.
Katie went on the score the first goal of the match and the two Ravenclaw chasers began to fight back. I didn't give a fuck. Someone find the goddamn snitch!
"Gryffindor is leading with 50 points! Gryffindor 80 and Ravenclaw 30." Lee yelled into the mic.
Harry zoomed past me at top speed. He had seen the snitch! He held out his palm to grab it. Get it, get it, get it. I prayed. Just then a bludger was sent at him by one of the Ravenclaw beaters and as Harry ducked the snitch vanished out of sight.
Bloody fucking asshole! I chased the bludger aimed and shot it back at the Ravenclaw beater nearly knocking him off his broom. The match would have been over by now if not for that rascal. After what seemed like forever, Harry spotted the snitch again only to be blocked by Chang. Arrrggghhh! I felt like ripping my hair off. I gave up and simply stared at the sky wishing to be with Maya. I prayed for her well-being.
"Harry Potter has the snitch!" Lee Jordan yelled.
"George! We won." Katie Bell flew towards me for a hug. I turned my broom around and zoomed away from her to the infirmary. I flew into the castle and right into the somber hospital wing of Hogwarts.
"Dismount your broom!" Filch roared as I swept past him. Not happening.
I dismounted my boom in the infirmary, in front of Maya's bed. I pushed aside the hoards of Ravenclaws and Slytherins surrounding her. Adrian and Ginny sat on either side of her bed.
Maya lay completely still, her eyes were shut and her lips slightly parted. She looked pale and fragile but there was no visible bruise on the front of her body.
"How is she?" I questioned.
Adrian glared at me with bloodshot eyes.
"It wasn't me! I would never..." he looked away before I could finish my sentence.
