"Hey, how you holding up?" Riley walks up to me, handing me an apple.
"I'm good. The baby is good." I say, happily grabbing the apple and taking a bite.
"I didn't mean the baby. I mean, I'm glad everything is good with the baby, but I meant you. How are you? I mean, you just found out about Negan. Glenn, Abraham, Spencer, and Olivia are gone. You were taken to the Sanctuary... a lot has happened and I'm worried about you. I know things have changed and you have Rick now, but I'm still your brother and I still care, you know." he says to me.
We sit on the front porch steps of Rick and I's home. I sigh. I didn't want to be honest about how I really felt... but I needed to talk to someone about it.
"Honestly, I'm not okay. Like at all. I just feel so...so blind sided by everything. It started with Jared. I should of known who he really was. I was sleeping next to a killer, our sisters killer, and I didn't even suspect a damn thing. And then there's Negan. We always knew him as Uncle Nick, and now he's my father. And now, I'm just your half sister. He was always there for me as a kid... I should have put the pieces together. I wish I would have... maybe Glenn, Abraham, Spencer, and Olivia would still be here. Denise, too." I say, taking another bite of the apple.
"Luna, I told you that you would always be my sister, no matter what biology says. I still love you the same. I always will. As far as Jared goes, he had me blind sided, too. It wasn't just you. Everyone who has died... wasn't your fault. There's no way we could have known that the outpost wasn't it. We didn't know there were more or the truth about Negan. No one blames you." he says.
"But I had to pretend I didn't care. Our people saw that. I don't think they trust me anymore." I say.
"Do you see the way they look to you? They still trust you. Rick and I made sure they knew it was all an act. We know how much this place means to you. We weren't gonna let Negan take that away from you." Riley says, smiling his normal smile.
"I love you, big brother. Thank you... for everything. How are you and Michonne?" I ask.
"Good. She's technically my wife now. I love her, Luna, so much. I did from the moment I saw her. I want a family with her... I see what you and Rick have. I want that." he says.
I grab his hand. "And you will. Once we gather enough people, we will take down the saviors. Alexandria will be safe again. Safe for all of us and our future children. You and Michonne deserve that." I say with a smile.
