(song rec: Je Te Laisserai Des Mots- Patrick Watson)

"How many stars do you think there are in the sky?", I asked as my eyes began to light up from the stars in the night sky.

Our minds both tainted with marijuana as it took each brain cell slowly. Our eyes growing more bloodshot and our bodies becoming weightless. A high to bring the mind to nowhere and nothingness.

Pure bliss.

"I don't think there's a number", he sighed, "I think the stars in the sky are...infinite", he started to smile. "I think with every star that falls there's another joining the sky. I think they pass another, one flying into the sky while the other falls".

I saw his eyes beginning to glow, "So who's first, is it the falling star or the rising one?", I asked softly, my eyes low and last like his.

"I think the falling star is", his eyes almost turned sad.

"Why?", he stayed quiet a moment, "Well, in order for a star to rise, one must fall", his breathing was slow and quiet. "Because the rising star can't find its way up if there's no falling star to light the path. So the falling star just.... falls, and we adore the sight of it, seeing a star shooting across the sky".

"And when it falls, that rising star can finally let go, it can cut the ties binding it to the earth it's been imprisoned on. So it follows the light in the sky, reaching for its peace as it passes right by them".

His words echoed on the sandy beach until it was the only thing you could hear.

"With beauty, comes darkness. With peace, comes chaos. With love, comes pain. And with rising, comes the fear of falling", I stared at the perfectly starred sky.

"And that's life as we know it", he sighed deeply, "You can never have it all", he finished. I noticed the tone in his voice, it was almost...regretful.

"All?", I knitted my brows, "Love, happiness, money, success", "Who's to say love isn't enough?", I became more invested in his words.

"It is but-", "There shouldn't be a but, to be loved is a privilege, you aren't entitled to be loved, it isn't a right we're born to. It's something that's been gifted to us, it's something we should cherish, and not take for granted", I stopped a moment.

"Because once that happens, once you take that person for granted, that person you love more than yourself, that person that you can't live without, that person who loves all the worst parts about you, the person that you can always trust-...they're already gone", I whispered the last few words.

"If you haven't loved, you haven't lived".

"Meet Joe Black", I smiled from the line he used, "Only the greatest movie of our time", he started to get excited. "Funny story", I sat up to face him, "So that was my dads all time favorite movie, so he made us watch it a lot as kids right- so I shit you not- I have the entire William Parrish love quote memorized", I laughed, "No you do not", he chuckled and shook his head.

"I shit you not", I shook my head, "Alright, let's hear it", he sat up, "Really?", I tilted my head to the side. "If you can actually recite the entire quote I will marry you right now", he raised his brows. "Alright", I sighed and stood up and cleared my throat.

"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. I say fall head over heals, find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back", I paused, watching his eyes lighting up as I spoke. "How do you find them? Well, you forget your head and listen to your heart and I'm not hearing any heart".

"Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love- well, you haven't lived a life at all. But you have to try, because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived..."
