"Okaasan, I booked a trip to Boston. I'll be leaving in one day and be back in a week." Miyamura told his mother, hoping she'd take the news lightly. "Repeat that again, please." Miyamura's mother froze as Miyamura turned as white as a ghost. "I-I'm going to Boston?" Miyamura was beyond afraid. "First off, where are you getting this money? And second off, why?" Miyamura's mother looked at him with her eyebrows raised as the tapped her finger on the kitchen counter. "I got the money from my job that I've been on for three years, and I'm going to Boston for..." Miyamura looked down, having a hard time explaining to his mother. All of the sudden, Miyamura felt his mother's arms around him, hugging him.
"You're in university, figuring out who you are and who you want to be. If you have the money, then it's okay, by all means. Just promise to come back, okay? If you don't, I'll kill you." Miyamura's mother hugged him tight. "But I know why you're going to Boston." Miyamura's mother broke the hug and smiled at her son, who looked quite confused.
"I'm your mother. I know that you're going to Boston for Megumi-chan." Miyamura's mother gave Miyamura a warm smile. "You're right. I'm going to ask Megumi to marry me. I tried it once before outside aunt's karaoke place, but then we got interrupted. I'm actually glad we got interrupted. Now I realise that I should give Megumi the perfect proposal story she deserves." Miyamura smiled, showing his mother the ring he was going to give Megumi. It was the ring that Miyamura's grandmother gave him before she died. Miyamura's grandmother, Riyoshina, instructed Miyamura to give the ring to someone he loved very, very much. And he was going to give it to Megumi, a perfect fit. "That's so sweet, honey. But what are you waiting for? Start packing so you'll be ready!" Miyamura's mother pat his shoulder and sent him off upstairs to pack his suitcases. Miyamura's mother smiled and took a sip of her coffee straight after.

Meanwhile, Megumi was in Boston, organising the graduation she would soon be attending. Megumi was graduating early, so she wouldn't be in the same ceremony as her fellow peers, which she was grateful for. Megumi found the people in her class exceptionally annoying. Her graduation was in two days, also known as the day Miyamura would arrive in Boston. Megumi had no idea he was coming, so she had her concentration set on the graduation. "Miss Takeshita, would you like the graduation coats and hats be distributed via class or via dorm rooms?" An assistant holding a clipboard caught up to Megumi while writing things down. "Via dorm rooms. I don't want to cause a ruckus in the classrooms." Megumi sighed as the assistant nodded. Megumi was in charge of the graduation committee, valedictorian, respected by the wider student body, and the student that would be graduating with the highest honours.

At her apartment (Megumi didn't sleep in the Harvard dorms), Megumi lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She might've not looked it, be she was stressed. More stressed than she had ever been before. Megumi had to organise a whole graduation, give her speech, figure out business with her grandfather after she graduates, decide whether she'd seek higher education or transition straight into business, talk to her newfound little brother Akito, and most importantly, talk to Miyamura. Megumi had ended a call saying something along the lines of, "I love you." And right there and then, she knew the would have to face him at some point. But Megumi didn't lie at all when she told Miyamura she loved him. Megumi was too scared to tell Miyamura about her feelings because she didn't want him to think she was creepy. Even though she knew Miyamura would never think that, she still looked at the cons more than the pros. But Megumi decided, when she went back to Japan after she graduated, she would properly tell Miyamura about her feelings.
The next day, Miyamura was on his plane to Boston, staring out the window and occasionally glancing at the ring that he would give Megumi. The ring was indeed beautiful, with a black opal gemstone placed in the gold outlines of the ring. The ring was pure gold and real black opal, which was the reason Miyamura's grandmother didn't just put it up for sale so quickly. Miyamura's grandfather had given her the ring, not knowing of its value, to his grandmother at the end of the world war in 1945. It the most precious family heirloom the Miyamura family has ever had.
