Homura Kurigato [ch. 40] - bonus

"These files are for you, Kurigato-san." A rather timid assistant placed a whole heap of files onto Kurigato's desk, all while trying not to look scared. Well, it wasn't only her. Everyone in the office was absolutely terrified of Homura Kurigato, the young CEO of Kurigato Law. His father had died much earlier than expected, so Homura had to quit his dreams of being a landscape photographer and take on the job (and burden, according to him) of his father's company. Kurigato gave a emotionless grunt and focused on his writing as the sheepish assistant scurried away.

After about thirty minutes, the scared assistant came back. "K-K-Kurigato-san?" She said as she lifted her pointer finger up, and it was obvious that she was trembling. "What now?" Kurigato grumbled, finally looking up from his papers. "A-A-A woman b-by the r-r-reception downstairs is asking to s-see you." The timid assistant hid behind her clipboard, and fought back tears of absolute fear. "Well?" Kurigato slammed both of his hands onto his desk as he stood up. "What's her name?" He looked at her impatiently as the assistant flinched and examined her clipboard with teary eyes. "U-um... Megumi Takeshita.. s-s-sir." The lady shut her eyes tightly in fear as Kurigato simply brushed passed her to get to the elevator.

"Take-sama," Kurigato called from the back of the reception, in which Megumi was sitting on the couch reading. She immediately stood up with her book in hand. "Kuri-sama!" Megumi clasped her hands together with The Bloodlust Count still in her grasp, looking happier than usual. Megumi and Kurigato have been meeting each other whenever they can for two weeks, discussing The Bloodlust Count. It was almost like their own mini book club. "What's got you in a good mood?" Kurigato asked, walking alongside Megumi to the elevator. "Oh! You noticed!" Megumi gave him a sweet smile and Kurigato blushed, coughing a bit to distract himself. "My brother, Yamato, is getting married to one of my lifetime friends!" Megumi looked the happiest Kurigato had ever seen her, and he liked it that way. "Her name is Inori Igarashi, and she's been taking care of me ever since I was little. It's so nice that they're getting married!" Megumi looked so happy that it was almost like her herself was getting married.

When they got into the elevator, Megumi gave a little gasp. "Oh! I'm sorry, I've been talking about my plans this whole time." Megumi chuckled and Kurigato blushed. "No, it's okay. I like hearing your plans." Kurigato smiled, which brought ease to Megumi. "Hey, is it okay if you come to my brother's wedding? My treat!" Megumi suggested the idea. "I'd love to, but it would be best if I didn't go. I don't know your family after all." Kurigato chuckled. "Well, I insist. My parents always invite important business figures during their events anyway. I'll be delighted for you to be there." Megumi gave him a warm smile, and Kurigato blushed once again. "If you insist, then okay." He smiled back as the elevator dinged and opened it's doors.

Kurigato and Megumi created their own little book club in his office, and would read together often. It was weird, but both of them enjoyed it very much. They had the same hobbies, the same personality, the same cold look in their eyes... if they didn't look any different they could be twins. But, everyone in Kurigato's workplace always sees the two together and 'ships' them.

"Takeshita-sama and Kurigato-sama would make a cute couple!"
"Isn't Takeshita-sama taken? She is a beauty and all."
"Hey! She's ruining my chance with Kurigato-sama!"
"You haven't had a single conversation with him."
"Takeshita-chan is really hot too though, maybe I'll get my chance soon?"
"Chan?"
