Chapter Four: Sorcerer

They tried to explain the situation calmly to Derek, they really did.

But the moment they untied him, Derek shoved Joyce and ran for it.

So, Oscar tackled him.

"Listen you little brat-" Oscar started irritably as he held the kid down.

"LET ME GO LET ME GO!" Robin and Erica scrambled to close the doors.

"MOM GET THE ROPE!" Will shouted to her.

Derek grabbed a handful of dirt and shoved it in Oscar's face. "EAT DIRT!"

"SON OF A BITCH-" Oscar fell back, hands shooting up to claw at his own eyes.

Will grabbed Derek as Joyce came over with the rope, but Derek kicked Will hard in the shin and managed to break free from his hold. Derek ran up a ladder, shoved the ladder down and hid up in the little attic part of the barn.

They all tried to explain he was safe but he covered his ears and wouldn't listen.

And then they heard banging on the door of the barn. Will's eyes rolled back into his skull.

"Will? Will!" Oscar exclaimed, shaking him, but it didn't do anything.

The door flew open and a Demogorgeon came inside roaring. Joyce grabbed an axe and stood in front. "If you want him, you'll have to go through me!" She swung at the Demogorgeon.

To everyone's shock, the Demogorgeon actually began to back off, stepping backwards as Joyce continued to swing at it.

And then the Demogorgeon was hit by a car. Will collapsed on the ground with a cry.

"Will!" Oscar crouched down and gathered him in his arms. "Will? Will, answer me!"

Will shot up with a gasp, heaving and struggling for air. Oscar hugged him tight. "I've got you. You're okay. You're okay...shh..." Will clung to him like a lifeline as he struggled to catch his breath.

Will painted on the barn walls aggressively. He drew some large art piece out of red paint.

"...What is it?" Oscar asked.

"I don't know. I could feel it was important to him." Will explained.

"To Mr. Whatsit?" Derek asked hesitantly.

"His real name is Henry." Will corrected. "I had this feeling he didn't want me there. I wasn't supposed to see it."

Robin stepped closer. "You've never been this close to the hive mind before. That thing was like feet away. Maybe you were so close that it overloaded your system."

"And Holly? Where was Holly?" Oscar asked quickly.

"Holly...she was attached to this...spire." Will grabbed more paint and closed his eyes, trying to paint what he saw in his mind.  She became a part of it somehow. It was doing something to her. And there were others! Three others."

Erica frowned. "I thought Vecna was just coming for dipshit?" She gestured to Derek.

"So did I. But I only knew about Derek because he walked right past me." Will reasoned.

"So Vecna takes Holly night one, three more children night two...and he's coming for more?" Oscar asked shakily.

"Eight more if this is accurate, which would make twelve." Robin added.

"Why kids? Why twelve?" Joyce asked desperately.

Will groaned. "I don't know. But we need to stop him before he takes anymore and buy Dustin and the others time to find this place and save Holly."
