Amara

2 years later...

"Are you nervous this time?" Adelaide asks, her voice sounding through the car speakers.

"Extremely. Even more so than the last to be honest."

"Everything is going to be fine. Tell my brother not to cry this time though, will ya? He needs to man up a little." Asher's siblings quickly became my own after I met them. Especially after the accident.

I was there for a lot of big moments in Adelaide's life. There were times that Aspen was busy with hockey and Annie was too young so, she cried to me about things she felt like she couldn't tell her mom. She easily became a little sister to me, they all did. I'm close with every one of them. Even their dog, Coco.

I chuckle, turning on my turn signal as I stop at a red light, "I should go here in a minute but, how's school? Meet any boys yet?"

"None that are worthy of my time."

"Atta girl.", I tap my thumbs against the steering wheel in anxiousness.

"Okay but, can we talk about how hot Braxton Shelby is?" I snort at the comment about Asher's teammate and best friend.

Of course we're still close with Lincoln and Levi but, we all ended up on different sides of the country so, we only see each other around the holidays- if that's even possible.

I pull into the packed parking lot, "I'm sure your brother would love to hear you say that."

"Do tell him. Have him plant a little seed for me."

"He'd never allow it. We both know that. He might actually beat the shit out of Braxton if he even looked at you that way."

"A girl can dream."

"Hey, I gotta go. Call me later?"

"You betcha."

"Alright. Bye Ad, love ya."

"Bye Mara. Love ya too.", Adelaide says before I hang up.

A black truck pulls into the empty space beside me and I smile, shutting my car off and sliding out.

"Hey baby.", Asher grins, stepping out of his truck. His curly hair was damp, just coming from practice, he had taken a shower.

"Hi.", I smile, looking up at my husband.

I still can't believe that he's my husband. I think about the day that he proposed all the time.

I chuckle, nudging his shoulder, "Are you about to propose or something?", I raise a single eyebrow up and down in a teasing manner.

Asher reaches into his pocket, "Actually, yeah." My hand goes over my mouth as I lightly gasp.

Tears fill my eyes as Asher gets down on one knee, opening the small velvet box to reveal his mother's wedding ring, and his grandmother's before that. The salt and pepper diamond glistens underneath the sunlight.

"I'm not going to waste my time with some sappy speech about how I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you because, I've already been spending it with you, I'm only making it official. Plus, I give you sappy speeches all the time. So, Amara Mariana Taylor, don't break my heart here baby. Will you marry me?"

"Look at us with our cute matching cars."

I say, looking back at the black Ford F-150 that is parked next to my black Ford Expedition, both with tinted windows.
