After hearing about the council's decision to remove the Guardians from the non-Royal Morois and the news about her transfer, Anya went out to find Delilah.

They appeared to be growing distant for some time, both of them having a lot on their plates. But the thought of not being able to see Delilah even for ten minutes a day made her feel lost.

Throughout the years they spent together Delilah became her anchor, her friend. She couldn't lose her. Knowing there was possibly nothing she could do to stop this was horrible.

As she was walking swiftly around the academy her eyes fell on a certain Guardian and she decided to make a detour.

Dimitri was giving two Novices notes on how to improve their fighting stances when they turned to her greeting her with a nod.

After he was done they went back to training only this time he didn't watch them because his attention was turned towards the Guardian next to him.

"The council decided to reassign the Guardians protecting the non-Royal Morois," Anya said after a moment. It appeared he didn't know about that from the way he raised his eyebrows ever so slightly.

"They are going to send me to St. Jude, there seems to be Royal in need of a Guardian."

Realization hit him, if Anya would be reassigned who would protect Delilah?

"That means Delilah won't have a Guardian," he spoke his thoughts aloud.

"Yes," she paused rethinking her next words. "I know you are training her. You aren't very secretive about it and even if you were it wouldn't matter, I still would have known."

It didn't surprise him that she knew, what did was her reaction. It seemed Delilah exaggerated.

He spoke too soon because Anya took a threatening step towards him, her eyes narrowing.

"You are lucky she looks happy, Belikov. If I ever see or hear you've hurt her even in the smallest way possible, there won't be a place you could hide from me," even if she was a head shorter than him she made him feel small under her gaze.

"I understand. But if I ever do anything hurtful towards her I won't hide," he declared his words nothing but honesty.

If his words surprised her she didn't show it but took one step back seeing they were on the same side. Their goal appeared to be the same, protect Delilah and that's all she needed to hear.

"Good. I wanted to ask for a favour from you," Anya's gaze was steady as she spoke. "When I leave I want you to watch out for her. She seems to like you so you have her trust already."

"I know Lissa is your Moroi and asking you to add Delilah to protect her as well is big favour but I wouldn't ask if I thought there was someone better. She needs you, Dimitri," it was the first time she ever used his first name, up until that point it was either Belikov or Guardian Belikov. She must really think of him as the only option.

"I will do it," he was going to say yes after she first ask him, there was no need for her to elaborate.

New hope appeared in Anya's eyes. After thanking him she was once again on her way to find Delilah, her official goal all along.

Delilah was currently sitting in the courtyard as she had time between her lessons. She was trying to read a book but her thoughts seemed to have no end.
