"Our third trial will be Trial by Reverie," the queen's announcement was broadcasted on a screen as Rose, Delilah and Mason walked out of the building.

They were making their way through the still-cheering crowd with only Mason knowing where they were going. He didn't want to tell them, all he said was that he had some kind of a source that could help them.

"Just up this way. You okay?" Mason asked Rose seeing how tense she still looked.

"I'm fine."

"Because that fight was kind of fraught."

"It's been a fraught kind of week," Rose muttered. "Who's this source we're talking to?"

Delilah was walking beside them, not saying anything as all of her emotions were still pretty high. She also knew that even if she wanted to say something or answer Rose's questions Mason would find a way to interrupt her.

It was always like that when it was them three talking. She didn't think Mason did it on purpose, he was always captivated by Rose and it made sense he prioritised her and not Delilah. But it wasn't only his fault, she usually stayed quiet because there was just something about him that didn't sit right with her.

Delilah never hated the boy or anything like that, it just felt like he was easily annoyed and she knew that there were others who thought of her as obnoxious or even weird.

"Someone who might know something about the night of the accident," Mason was able to say before someone walked up to them with a box full of powders and herbs.

"You want to take a trip?"

"No, thank you," they said almost in unison as they continued on.

"What a shit show," Rose breathed out shaking her head. "Everyone's here waving their flags, buying their drug, no idea that someone inside of these wards is in league with the Strigoi."

"Do you ever want to get the fuck out of here?" Her question didn't surprise Delilah, she knew Rose would love to be free which all of them rightfully deserved.

"All the time, but right now... we all know what needs to happen," Mason finished as they stopped in front of a building.

Both girls turned towards it and saw what he meant. Lissa was standing behind a column. Rose was the first to react.

"No, no," with that she started walking away but was stopped by Mason who put his hands on her shoulders. "You can't just spring this on me."

"Yeah, I can. And I am. You're a fucking mess, Rose," hearing that Delilah suppressed an eye-roll and walked towards her cousin.

She knew this would be very hard for Rose and she wouldn't push her, unlike Mason. As she neared Lissa, the ex-princess stood up straight and looked her in the eyes. They stood there for a few quiet seconds before Delilah enveloped her in a hug.

Lissa didn't wait long before she wrapped her arms around her cousin, feeling relieved that she at least didn't mess up their relationship. As they slowly untangled from their hug, the corner of Delilah's mouth lifted.

"I guess they lost my invitation in the mail," she teased her, earning a soft chuckle. "Congratulations, I'm sorry I wasn't there."

Before Lissa could correct her, Rose stepped towards them. Knowing this would be hard for both girls, Delilah decided it wasn't her place to say anything.
