"So, what's this 'top secret' undying truth you are so scared to tell me about, Finn?" Gwen chuckled, slugging down her wine glass as she chuckled out of one, frustration, and two, genuine interest of what this big secret could be. Finney winced, cringed, at the name 'Finn'. Finney hadn't been called that name in a long while, at least from Gwen. Finney was always Finney to Gwen, and it hadn't ever been different. The two never had 'nicknames', pursue. The two simply only called each other by their given names; Gwen and Finney. Although, once this unspoken truce was broken. Then once more, once again, and then suddenly, 'Finn' was used as a name Gwen would use to pick on or insult Finney.
"I fear it's just not that easy to get off my chest." Finney sighed, rubbing his index finger and thumb against his forehead, quickly catching a glance at Robin, then a glance at Gwen once more; her gaze on 'Finn' strong and daring, which would send a stinging cold shiver down Finney's spine.
"Well," Robin begun, to get the conversation going -- to at least get it one step closer to the 'truth' -- if there was even a 'truth' in this world anymore.
"Do you believe in mystical creatures?" Robin asked, his eyebrows furrowed and a smug, almost foolish grin which traced his lips.
"Like.. Unicorns?" Gwen laughed, unamused.
"Well, not exactly." Finney mumbled, which made Gwen a tad bit angry. She wasn't mad at Finney or Robin or anyone really, it would be the suspense which would bring Gwen these emotions she felt on that morning.
"What kind of sick joke is this?!" Gwen roared, reaching her limit.
"Gwen, please, we're going to get to the point it just won't make sense if we don't explai--"
"Just. Tell. Me." Gwen spoke sternly, receiving a sigh from Robin, who glanced at Finney. "Do I tell her?" Robin mouthed, earning a gentle nod from Finney.
"Well, I'm not exactly alive." Robin said, a completely genuine and stern tone which shot through his vocal chords like a rifle going off in the wind, striking through the cold tender winter air.
Gwen chuckled. "I'm not exactly.." Gwen paused, sighing out of confusion as she looked down to her hands which she had been fiddling with sense the beginning of this conversation. "Understanding." She added, a more quiet tone in her voice arising.
"See, this is why we should've explained, Robin." Finney hissed under his breath, making Robin roll his eyes and shake his head.
"But, if you're dead, how are you right in front of me?" Gwen protested, finding Robin's claims foolish and unbelievable.
"I'm reincarnated, as something.... that isn't human." Robin spoke as he shuffled through his many thoughts.
"Wha...--"
"But so is the other 'lost' kids."
"Lost..?"
"Me, Billy, Griffin.."
"Vance..?" Gwen mumbled, slowly beginning to believe this strange train of events. This took Finney and Robin back, back to the day where it all happened; where Vance was a lost man. Finney's eyes began to water.
"Oh, man." Finney shakily exhaled.
"Finney..?"
"He's a lost man.." Robin spoke quietly, his eyes did too begin to water.
"He.. He.." Robin begun to feel foggy minded, he got stuck on that one word, that one oh so simple word. "He". He begun to scold and curse at himself. He leaned to the side, where Finney had sat.
"I-I..." He shuttered as he breathed into Finney's ear.
"Blood." He managed to spat out, he felt as if he was going blue, he shook as he stood, wobbling to the bedroom, where the two had hid their blood supply from Gwen until she had known the truth.
"I'm sorry, Gwen, Robin just isn't feeling goo-" Finney begun, but as he looked back to Gwen, he had noticed Gwen looked terrified -- as if she had just witnessed a murder.
"B-Blood..?" Gwen stuttered as her eyes began to dart in all directions -- pure fear tingling off her fingertips, darting around the room and bouncing off the walls like electricity.
"You know that silly question Robin asked earlier..?" Finney spoke, easing towards his, or, Robin's big confession.
"No, no, no, no." Gwen spoke, standing up from her chair.
"He's not.. He's not..?" Gwen panicked, as she begun to understand the dark truth.
"A vampire..?" Gwen questioned, her knees beginning to wobble and her composure dying down.
Finney shakily exhaled, before nodding slowly.
"O-Oh... Oh my god." Gwen panicked, stepping farther and farther away from Finney.
"Gwen, please," Finney pleaded, he too standing up from his seat.
"I have to go.." She said, forcing Finney back with a pleading hand, using her palm as some sort of protective shield to scare off the 'beast'; Robin.
"Gwen, please stay I need you." Finney begged, walking closer and closer to Gwen, but Gwen continued to walk backwards towards the door, keeping a sharp gaze on Finney.
"I can't do this, Finn." Gwen spoke under her breath, almost apologizing for what she was about to do.
"Gwen-" Finney begun to speak, only to be interrupted by Gwen swiftly running to the front door, slamming it behind her.
"NO. NO, NO, NO." Finney shouted, running towards the door. He shakily opened the door, twisting the knob and running through.
But by the time he managed to make it outside, Gwen was long gone.
"She's... She's gone." He begun to sob, falling to his knees and shaking his head in denial.
