Happy Birthday Tokoyami

Sorry, this is late-

Tokoyami POV:

I was just finished brushing my teeth, in the dark of course; as it was I was too tired to turn on all the lights. I was still half asleep and I grabbed the towel with as little effort as possible, which ended up being too much, and perhaps I accidentally slapped the wall. My hand throbbed for a moment as I used said towel to dry off my mouth, rubbing the cloth into my dampened t-shirt.

It was only moments later when I heard a knock on my door, dull yet quick thuds, they were quiet. But I could hear them. The sound was almost rushed and it was light anyways. So I knew it wasn't Iida trying to get my attention, and it could've only been a few people. Most of my classmates are much louder and I would have heard voices from the hallway either approaching my door or directly on the other side.

Yet this time it was just knocking, no bubbling voice or voices, no stuttered pot hello; just a quick knock and patient and polite waiting from whoever was on the other side of the door. So I tossed the towel, knowing I would find it later with the flashlight from my phone or something. Luckily the doors to the doors opened into the dorms themselves or it would have been a disaster.

My room was dark and messy, but that's the way I liked it; just have everything out in signature areas. I walked towards my dorm door and remembered just how blind anyone else would be in my room so I grabbed the remote to my LED light that hung around the walls and furniture of my room. From a dull hazy purple I turned the lights off and back on until a brighter white color shone throughout the room; it was t blinding but it definitely made the room more visible.

I turned to the door expecting there to be another knock, but I only saw the light from the hallway and the shadow of someone's feet. I hurried over to the door thinking there must be something going on to make whoever it is wait so long without knocking again or speaking at all. When I opened the door I was very surprised.

Denki Kaminari stood there with a large box in his arms and a carrier of coffees settled on top of it. There was an envelope in his mouth, the corner of it between his teeth.

"Happy birthday Tokoyami," came Kaminari's mumbled response to the door being opened.
"Oh- um do you want me to take that?" I was surprised. I forgot to check my phone when I woke up this morning so I only knew the time from my clock. I gestured for the card and Kaminari nodded his head, parting his lips more so he could open his mouth without getting drool everywhere.
I chuckled lightly at his mannerisms and facial expressions."What do you mean 'Oh,' did you forget today is your birthday?" He seemed almost saddened.
"I've barely registered that it's October still."
"That's fair I guess." He shrugged and hefted the box up with his knee.

"Oh ahem- would you like to come in?"
"I would have just left the coffee and box here on the floor if you asked. I mean I can still leave if you just wanna be by yourself-" I placed the envelope in my hoodie pocket and shook my head. "Not gonna happen Kaminari." And I reached for the coffees carefully to not jostle them. I then moved back and held the door open with my foot so he could make his way in.

I led him over to my bed where he set the box down on the floor and motioned for him to sit on my bed with me by patting the mattress. The box wasn't as large as I had initially thought, it looked much larger in Kaminari's hands. Speaking of his hands even in the very dim light I noticed they were red. I wasn't too worried but a slight frown made its way onto my face.

Kaminari must have noticed because he thrust one of the coffees into my hands and it swayed in my grip for a moment as I registered what I had in my hands and what I had to do to not burn or spill it all over myself. I made sure to smile and took a sip of the drink.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it was almost exactly how I made it. It was a rich black coffee with a hit of cream. I usually prefer the coffee to be a little bit stronger.
"Thank you Kaminari. I can't say I wasn't shocked. I appreciate you very much and espy what you've done for me even with it being so early. But I must ask. Where did you get this coffee made?" He removed his own caffeinated drink from his lips and I just noticed how his eyes seemed to glow. *Most likely due to his quirk. Hmmm- curious* and I took another quick sip of my drink.
"I got it from where I usually get mine from. I know I don't seem like I need coffee, but I truly do. I got you a black coffee with cream from the Mocha-Care Cafe because you seem like the black coffee type, but I wasn't exactly sure how you like it."
"Well, it seems I may have to try and make a trip to The Mocha-Care Cafe because this is very nearly the exact way I make it."
"It is?!" I nodded my head.

"Wow, I had no idea. This is the way I usually order it. It wouldn't be bad if the coffee was stronger though." Kaminari looked off towards the windows and then back at me with a sheepish smile.
"I wouldn't be opposed to that either." I smiled along with him and took another sip of my own Coffee.

We sat in silence for a moment. Eventually, Kaminari settled his half-finished drink on my side table.
"Do you wanna open up the gifts? I mean it's nothing super interesting. Just some hoodies and clothes and accessories and stuff and like-" I placed my hand on his knee and cut him off with a slow shake if my head hopeful he could see my smile.

"Not right now Kaminari. I think I would rather just sit here and talk with you for a little longer." He shrugged.|
     "Okay."
