It was inevitable.Oikawa knew it was inevitable.
The two of them sat on a couch in his childhood home. His mother sat on the opposite one.
He never in his life had imagined this day. It all seemed too real. Not that his mother knew that they were ... that Iwa-chan was ...
"I'm so happy you have gotten familiar with each other," his mother smiled kindly, leaning forward to hold Iwaizumi's hand, "I missed you, Hajime."
Iwiazumi blinked, "I'm . . . I..."
"I know!," his mother beamed, "I know, you don't know most things. . . But I'll tell you and show you what a brilliant woman your mother was. I can finally tell you, son . . ."
Oikawa got up to give them a private moment. He quietly walked upstairs and opened the door to his childhood bedroom. It was kept clean, undoubtedly by his mother.
With a sigh he took off his suit jacket and spread it across his desk chair.
He wondered how his mother would react. Not badly right? Right?
It was terrible to even think about her reaction. Sometimes he scared himself.
He loved him. And Iwaizumi loved him back.
There was no denying it.
But his mother didn't know any of that. He should've told her the moment they started seeing each other.
In the bathroom, Oikawa took a shower and changed into his home clothes. when he got out, it was already 9:52pm. He figured that was enough time for the two of them to reconcile.
It was not.
In the living room, his mother and partner had tears streaming down their faces.
His mother immediately stopped talking when she saw Oikawa come into view.
"Come. Sit."
Fucking hell. . .
He took a seat beside Iwaizumi on the couch. He cleared his throat.
Iwaizumi sat back in his seat and sniffled, wiping his face with his sleep.
"Are you alright?"
Iwaizumi nodded.
"Hm," his mother wiped away her tears, "Hajime. It's time to stop being your mother and start being Tooru's."
Oikawa looked between them confused.
His mother sat back, her pointed gaze straight towards Iwaizumi, "So. You're sleeping with my son?"
"Mom!"
Iwaizumi's face got evidently flushed, he stuttered over his words, "I .. uh, once or twice ?"
"IWachan! Shutup!"
His mother snorted, laughing loudly, "he is so cute, Tooru. Truly a gem."
"I was going to tell you. . .," Oikawa looked down in his lap.
"I know, love. We'll talk about this in the morning," she smiled.
He nodded.
She got up and patted both their cheeks, "get some sleep, okay? And let's go out tomorrow."
They both agreed quickly.
-
While Iwaizumi was in the bathroom, Oikawa's phone rang.
