Alone Together

The leaves had started to change color around the abbey and the air became more brisk. The roses had started to wilt in the cool night air.

    The sky was blue with very little clouds and there were some leaves on the ground of the garden. I was currently in the greenhouse of the garden watering the plants as Rain was standing next to me going on about band practice and other things the ghouls do when they don't have anything to do.

   "Mountain would love it here." Rain spoke randomly. I gave a small hum in agreement as I watered the bleeding hearts. I saw Rain smile out of the corner of my eye. He has always done this whenever I make a noise. It had been a couple months since the incident that happened to Rain and I still have yet to say another word. I've been trying to as well.

   "I'm glad you agree. Maybe he could come here tonight I'll have to ask though." Rain said excitedly.

Where does he patrol? I asked.

"Over by the offices." Answered Rain.

What's Mountain like I don't know him very well?

"He is quiet and keeps to himself most of the time but once you get to know him he's chill like most earth ghouls are. He can grow vegetation and flowers at will which I'd pretty cool." He praised Mountain. It was fun listening to Rain talk about his friends in such a good light and all the adventures they have had. I know if I could talk I could probably go on and on about what Lilith and I did in our youth especially all the times we had snuck out to go to abandoned places and all the concerts we went to. Like the time we went to a Ice Nine Kills show with our friends Jameson, Sky and Johnny. I still had pictures from that night that I had printed out and I had yet to frame and put on my wall. I had a lot of pictures that I needed to frame and put up but I should probably ask before I put a nail in the wall I'll do that when I'm done with my chores.

"-So what are you doing after this?" Rain asked breaking me from my thoughts.

I need to ask Papa a question then after that nothing. I signed putting the hose down for a second to respond.

"Are you alright?" He asked in response to the answer I gave him.

Yeah I just want to know if I could hang some pictures in my room.

"Oh okay makes sense. After that if it's not to much trouble would you go down to the basement to get Mountain? You don't have to." He asked.

Yes I can go do that. I smiled at him as I took my gloves off.

"Great because I would but I'm on patrol." He let out a little laugh while rubbing his neck.

I have a question. I wrote on my phone and showed it to Copia.

"Yes?" He asked motioning his hand for me to continue.

I have some photos from when I was younger and I was wondering if I could hang them up? I asked with hope in my eyes.

"Oh is that what it is, I thought it was going to be something to do with Rain." He hummed with surprise.

What do you mean?

"I mean I've seen you and Rain hanging out and getting very close." He paused as my face dusted a light pink. "Do you like him?" He finally asked. I slightly shook my head no while covering my face. "Ah Swiss is right, young love. You know stage one is always denial." He said amused resting his chin on his hand. "But to answer your question yes you can hang your pictures up." He finally answered.

Thank you Papa I greatly appreciate it. I wrote with a smile.

"Anytime mi amor, have fun." He said goodbye with a wink and I bounced out of the room satisfied with my answer and confused with how he knows what Swiss had said to me all those weeks ago.

I walked to the basement and knocked on the door for Swiss to open it.

   Rain wants to talk to Mountain. I wrote down on my phone and flipped it so Swiss could see. He read it then turned his head to call for the earth ghoul. Two seconds later the tall ghoul was standing there.

   "Rain wants you." Swiss explained as he saw the confusion in Mountains face.

   "Oh okay." He responded to Swiss then left with me as we went to the courtyard.

"Ah Mountain your here!" Rain said excitedly. Mountain just looked around at the courtyard. It was clear he was never here before and he was awestruck.

   "This place is amazing." Mountain whisperer amazed.

   "I don't understand how you have never been here before." Rain chuckled. At that Mountain kneeled down and put his hand to the dewy earth and a bunch of random tulips began to bloom out of the ground rapidly. My mouth fell open in amazement.

   "I don't understand why I haven't been here either." He whispered to himself again. At that moment the doors violently opened to a pissed off Sister Imperator with another ghoul behind her. I didn't know who this ghoul was I've never seen him before during my time here.

   "Mountain you shouldn't be here." She spoke in a stern voice.

   "My apologies Sister I will be right out." Mountain bounced up and quietly walked out the door.

   "(Y/n) I need to talk to you." She spoke a couple moments after Mountain left. I gave a nod then turned around to wave goodbye to Rain.

   We made it to her office where the ghoul was still there not moving from behind her as she sat. She motioned me to have a seat on the other side of her desk.

   "It has come to my attention that you are extremely close to the ghouls and as that's not apart of the rules it is clear they are very fond of you as well so it is to dangerous for me to take you away from them so I must warn you about the blood moon that is coming up next month. I can't explain it to much right now but I will give you this book on them and I strongly suggest that you read it before the blood moon because it can save your life. I would also like to tell you that you no longer have to sneak around to go to the basement with the ghouls I completely trust you and the ghouls together but if you notice any problems or irregularities with the ghouls you must let me know. Okay." She finished and I stared at her for a second before nodding processing the information just given to me. She then slid the book over to me. "I shall speak to you later (Y/n), goodbye." And with that I went to my room to start on reading this book about ghouls.
