Devil's Night

Today was the blood moon which means it's also Christmas Eve. I haven't seen any of the ghouls for a week now besides Rain of course. I really wasn't that scared, as long as I don't go down in the basement tonight I should be good.

I went to the cafeteria to get myself some breakfast. I was wearing a jacket  because I wanted to go to the courtyard to see how the greenhouse was coming along. I of course had my sketchbook on me so I didn't feel completely alone and I wouldn't look stupid to people walking by.

The greenhouse was done so I was able to pull a table into there. With a little struggle I was able to get it in to the greenhouse.

Rain has to be hella strong. I thought to myself letting out a huff dusting off my hands as I stopped moving the table.

As I ate I sketched out little doodles of different flowers that weren't damaged in the brake in that happened a couple weeks ago. I know that we got new seeds to plant to make up for the damages that happened that day.

When I was done eating I decided that I will plant all the flowers and vegetables that were destroyed in the accident.

I walked out of my room to see Zara and Jordan standing outside my room. I looked at them confused on why they were standing in front of my door.

"Oh you're dressed. Never mind then." Zara spoke and began to walk off. Jordan stayed a little behind and spoke up.

"Be careful tonight." Was all she said before she bounced off to catch up with Zara. I looked at them as they walked away kinda annoyed at the situation and now that was the third person to tell me to be careful.

I made my way to the greenhouse with the seeds that were by the table outside of it. As I planted the seeds I thought about the blood moon tonight and what tomorrow will be like. I probably shouldn't bring it up to them at all. I finished planting the seeds I grabbed the hose to water the new plants that were gonna grow.

I went back to my room to just relax because I know I won't be hanging out with anyone today. I just sat there listening to music dancing around my room and I finished wrapping up some of the gifts I got for the ghouls.

I laid in bed as the sun went down. I looked out the window and saw the big red orange moon. I had already ate dinner and I was dressed for bed and because the heat had been turned on I was able to wear just a tee shirt and sweatpants. I smiled to myself because I was excited to give everyone there gift's tomorrow. I was about to fall asleep when I heard a knock on my door. Annoyed I got up to open the door to see Jordan standing there with a look of desperation in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry if I woke you but I was walking with Sean around the abbey and we got into an argument so he took the gift I got Zara and threw it down the basement and I would go down but I know it would probably be better if you did because you know your way down there!" She ranted. "Can you go down there now by any chance?"

I thought for a second I mean it was probably just at the bottom of the staircase so if I was quick I could probably go down there and grab the gift and run up without anyone seeing me. I nodded at her and began to walk out of my room.

"Oh thank you so much (Y/n) you truly are a life saver!" She hugged me and cried. "I'll be in my room. Thank you."

I made my way to the basement and I stood at the top of the stairs. I heard rustling from the rooms down below. I gulped in fear as a clung on to the cold metal railing. It was dark at the bottom so I couldn't see the floor that well as I went down. I kept scanning the ground to see if i could find a gift that was somewhere down here. As I took the last couple of steps I stumbled a bit and when I looked back up I saw a the torso of a ghoul that was taller then me. I looked up fully at the ghoul that was in front of me he looked back down at me with glowing blue eyes. He cocked his head to the left. I then stumbled back a bit when I released that this was Rain. I looked up in horror when I saw the gift on the floor next to his right foot. I quickly grabbed it and began running back up the stairs but just to my luck he grabbed the back of my shirt And dragged me back into the basement and began walking further down the hall. As I was holding the small gift in my right hand as I used my arms and legs to hit and kick at Rain. I felt bad but I also knew I needed to get out of here. I ended up grabbing and pulling at one of his horns and he let go and hissed in pain. I was able to run up ahead into a closet that just had some cleaning supplies in it. As I made it to the closet I slammed the door as loud as I could so hopefully it would detour Rain away from me. It worked.

Only for a couple minutes though because then I heard loud scratches on the door. In fear I began hyperventilating and clawing at my own skin. I kept putting my nails deeper into the skin on my arms and dragging them down. I didn't notice the pain until I heard Rain whimpering outside of the door.

"Please... please!" He cried outside of the door I felt a ping of guilt.

I should've never come down here. I thought with a tear coming down my face.

I had no idea what he wanted but I know I can't leave this room until morning and I didn't even have my phone on me to check the time because I thought I would be right up. I let out a silent sob at the thought of me being stuck down here in the cold and dark all night. My hands still cling to my arms as I continued to rip at the flesh on my arm. I tried desperately to warm up by rubbing by hands on my arms but now every time I did it would burn. I looked closely at my hands and saw the blood on my hands. My vision became blurred with tears as I noticed my mistake because there was now more scratching and pleading at the door. I began letting out audible sobs as I shook in fear. I didn't want to die like this but now I wouldn't be surprised if Rain broke through the door any second now to kill me. I knew it wouldn't be his fault though, I should've never allowed myself to come down here. I felt him banging on the door and with the loud noise it hurt my head. I began to stand up and I grabbed Zara's gift. The pounding on the door was more violent then all of a sudden the door broke open. There I stood face to face with a ghoul who has no idea who I am. I realized that this isn't truly the Rain I know and just some fucked up weird curse that ghouls are born with.

Rain looked at my arms and reached his hand out to grab my blood covered arms. He smiled as he did so and I saw his fangs as he smiled. His face got closer to my left arm and bit down into the flesh I let out a yelp of pain and Rain looked stunned. That's when I remembered the thing about ghouls and being sensitive to loud noises during a blood moon. I quickly pushed past the water ghoul as he just stood there staring at the spot I was just at. As I ran down the hall I heard fast footsteps following me.

"My love please!" I heard him whimpering as I ran away from him. I felt bad but I knew it was for my own good as I ran back up the stairs.

I walked to Jordan's room and knocked on her door. She opened it with a worried look in her eyes.

"Oh my are you alright?" She asked in a panic looking at my arms. I just shoved the gift in her hands and rolled my eyes as I made it back to my room to wash up again before I struggled to go to bed. I knew I couldn't see Stephane because I couldn't let anyone see me like this. Good thing it was winter so I could get away with wearing long sleeves for a couple months.
