pounding hearts

"Padawan y/l/n, are you alright? My apologies for being so indiscreet but you seem upset.", a clone approached me. Until now I hadn't even realized that I wasn't alone anymore.

"No worries, it's fine. It's just... Let's say I feel a bit light headed right now but it's nothing serious. Thanks though.", I fake smiled at him.

"I understand, I hope you will feel better soon, padawan y/l/n." The clone nodded at me and then took a seat in the very front of the cockpit.

I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down a little more. The last thing I wanted was for anyone else, specifically for Obiwan or Anakin, to take notice of my current state. And if they were to enter the cockpit soon and make the big announcement, I at least wanted to be steady on the inside and appear like I was taking the message well.

But they left me waiting. And I got more and more anxious.

We were less than an hour away from Coruscant when they both finally entered the cockpit. Obiwan came in first. I tried to read his expression but his face was neutral. Anakin followed a few meters after him. My heart immediately started pounding faster. His face on the other hand wasn't so neutral. He looked pretty irritated, the way he stomped to the front of the cockpit where he curtly told the clone to get out of 'his' seat.

"I'm flying. Get out of my seat."
The clone didn't even stand fully yet, when Anakin already threw himself into the empty seat.

"Anakin! Have some respect! Besides, there is absolutely no need for you to fly manually.", Obiwan said in a strict voice.

"There is no need for a lot of other things...", Anakin muttered bitterly to himself but still loud enough for everyone to hear.

Obiwan was wise enough not to respond to that and just turned around and shook his head instead. That's when he noticed me sitting on the side.

"Oh hello there Y/N, you're up! I apologise that I haven't noticed you just now. But I hope you have had a good extended sleep?"

Oh how I loved Obiwan and his gentle eyes that looked at me so friendly. With these few words he managed to instantly calm my nerves. I had barely any fear anymore that he would declare me master-less any second. He would never allow that, no matter how many outbursts of Anakin he had to endure. Just standing in front of him made that clear to me.

"Hello master. I've slept wonderfully, thank you. I just hope that I haven't missed anything?", I asked in an attempt to test Obiwan some more.

"No, not at all, dear.", he smiled reassuringly.

Yep. With that he confirmed my hopes. And he was such a good liar as well.

"That's... good to hear."

Obiwan came a step closer to me and said in a quieter voice:

"Now, would you mind buckling up? You know how Anakin likes to demonstrate his... well, flying skills."

"Oh. Right.", I half smiled as I knew exactly what Obiwan was referring to.

Anakin undeniably was a good pilot and had managed to land every ship, no matter its state, in one way or the other... But his style of flying really wasn't anything for the faint hearted. Especially not if he was angry like he was right now.

Obiwan's advice really didn't come a second too soon, because in the very next moment, Anakin navigated us through the atmosphere of the large planet that gave home to the jedi temple. I was pressed into my seat and the ship vibrated for a moment from the enormous external forces that were acting on it in this transitioning phase.
