I stare at my childhood house, everything that I've ever known now simply different. All the horrid things that had happened when I was little, now all making sense. A new purpose rises in my throat, and for the first time in my life, I'm not scared to walk into that house.
Well...not exactly walk. More of carried.
With the new words echoing in my head, the new realization, everything around me, I feel powerful.
I can walk in that house and be proud of who I am.
"Remember, play along until near the end of dinner," I say, looking over at my handsome man. He's watching me, smiling, hand on my numb thigh, the look in his eyes something that I've never understood until now. He leans forward, the scent of fresh body wash invading my senses in a way that makes my skin tingle.
"I love you." He blurts out, swallowing softly afterwards and glancing away from me, his cheeks going pink. My heart melts at his words, my hands shaking slightly as I reach over the consul and slide my fingers along his jaw, turning those beautiful red eyes back to me.
Dawson keeps his eyes downwards, the tint of his cheeks enough to make me giggle softly. "You're the biggest teddy bear," I murmur, leaning forward as best as I can to place a kiss to his nose.
When I draw back, his ears are pink, "Yeah," he mutters embarrassed before flicking his eyes over to me. I smile, "But you're my big teddy bear, and I love you because of that."
Dawson groans, closing his eyes and letting his head fall back like a love sick puppy, "Damn, you make my heart go crazy." He breathes, rubbing his thumb in soft circles along my thigh. With a small smile, he leans across and presses his lips to mine.
A hum leaves me as I lean into his lips, enjoying every moment I have before we have to endure Thanksgiving dinner with my family.
But that moment is soon ruined when the car shakes and I gasp, pulling away from Dawson, my hand reaching for the handle on the car door. Dawson curses and when my eyes focus, I see Matt leaning against the passenger side door. He's looking at me sheepishly and annoyance builds in my chest before Dawson glares at him through the window. Matt shrinks back, showing his hands before sulking his way back to the house.
"What the hell?" I mutter, unbuckling my seatbelt, looking over at Dawson. He shrugs and quickly unbuckles before pulling the keys from the Lamborghini before popping the door open and hurrying over to my side.
My eyes track his jog, loving the way his suit pants hug that ass of his, the neatly tucked in white button-up hugging his body in all the right places. His dark brown hair slicked back just to the point of perfect contrast to the naturally messy style he normally wears outside of work. The jumpsuit I have on matches the aesthetic of Dawson's suit. It hugs my waist and right under my breasts, longer sleeves that start to flow from the elbows, a deep v-line neck that, unless I had makeup on, would show at least three hickeys that Dawson had given me from last night. The pants hug my hips, reaching to my upper thigh before the fabric loosens and floats around my skin. Thought it's not able to be seen, I have my gold anklet on, just beneath the flats that I can't even use. And a gold necklace that hangs around my neck, a small, single diamond sitting on the thin gold chain.
Dawson pulls the door open and I look up and smile, watching his eyes trail my body softly. "So beautiful," he whispers, bracing a strong hand on the open door as he leans down to kiss my cheek softly.
A blush spreads across my face as he clicks the seatbelt, carefully letting the seatbelt coil back. Then he has his arms under me, carefully maneuvering me out of the car and up against his chest. The warmth of his hard chest beneath my ear makes me melt further into his arms, the steady thump of his heart making a smile spread across my lips.
