Ever since their sophomore year at Barden, Beca and Jesse had shared an apartment on campus. They had been best friends since middle school, and Jesse was like a brother to Beca. During high school, Jesse's parents moved him to a private school. The two still remained super close, but Jesse inevitably made some new friends too.
Chloe Beale was one of the private school friends Jesse had made back in high school, and they remained friends after graduation too. She attended a different college which made it hard to see each other, but this weekend she would be visiting Jesse. That meant she would be staying at his apartment; the apartment he and Beca shared.
"Becs? Beca?" Jesse shouted from the doorway.
No response.
"Beca?" Jesse said as he approached her bedroom door, this time with a slightly softer voice.
"Hm?" Beca groaned, still half asleep.
"Beca it's 1pm. I'm going to pick up Chlo from the airport, thought I'd let you know." Jesse rolled his eyes at the sight of Beca sleeping in. It was typical of her, but he always got a kick out of it.
"Yeah ok." Beca mumbled as she fell back to sleep.
About an hour later, Jesse arrived back home. This time a redhead with bright blue eyes followed behind.
Beca had eventually woken herself up while Jesse was gone, and she was in the living room when they came in.
"Hey, you must be Beca. I'm Chloe!" The redhead said with a big smile. Beca immediately thought she was like a girl version of Jesse because of her enthusiasm.
"Yeah, uh, nice to finally meet you." Beca said. She barely glanced up from her computer, but she saw enough of Chloe to know she was beautiful. Her fiery-red hair tied up into a bun, her long eyelashes and sparkling eyes, and her glistening smile that lit up the room.
"Becs we're going to go grab some lunch after Chloe sets her things down, do you want to come along?" Jesse asked.
"Ah I've got a lot of work to get done, otherwise I would. I'll catch up with you guys later tonight?" Beca thought of the easiest excuse, and Jesse knew her well enough to know it was a lie.
It wasn't that Beca had anything against Chloe. She just hated socializing with most people, so it was easiest to stay away from that.
After a few hours of Jesse and Chloe being gone, Beca received a text.
Jesse: We met up with some other people from high school, so we might not be home for a while. If we go out to the bars later would you want to come?
Beca: Maybe
Jesse: Chloe doesn't bite. I promise ;)
Beca: Lol. I'll probably come, text me.
Beca realized maybe it did seem like she was avoiding Chloe, and she felt bad. She was just typically a reserved person, so this was normal for her.
Not much time passed before Jesse was texting Beca again to update her on their whereabouts. The other friends had split off, and Jesse and Chloe were headed to a bar nearby. Beca realized it was time to get over herself, so she headed over to meet them.
She walked in the door to see Jesse and Chloe sitting at the bar. They were talking and laughing with each other, making Beca even more nervous to interject.
"Hey guys." Beca said as she sat down. She took a seat to the left of Jesse leaving him in between the girls.
"Becs! You made it!" Jesse said, clearly already drunk.
