Ever since Beca joined the Bellas, Chloe's been in love. The thing about Chloe is when she loves, she loves hard. The second she laid eyes on the younger girl, she knew she needed to pursue a relationship with her. The issue with said girl is that she loves in a completely opposite way than Chloe. Beca pretty much doesn't allow herself to be loved, which often means she won't show her love for others either.

The first time Chloe interacted with Beca after the activities fair was initiation night. When she caught a glimpse of Beca she immediately ran over to talk. Chloe was her usual touchy self, and she had no problem invading Beca's space. They had a little banter, but it was clear the brunette was a little hesitant towards Chloe's behavior. It wasn't that she didn't like her, she just wasn't used to a stranger being that open right away.

Every time they hung out within those first couple months were like that. Chloe would push and pry, and Beca would stay reserved. She wasn't going to give up, but it did get discouraging not being able to break down Beca's walls.

By the end of her freshman year, Beca had become more comfortable around Chloe. She was used to her sometimes-overbearing-personality, and they got along really well. The only problem at that point was that Chloe was still in love with Beca, but she couldn't bring herself to admit that and potentially cause more complications.

3 whole years of friendship had passed, and Chloe had still never confessed her true feelings for Beca. She longed to be more than friends, but she felt like she was walking on eggshells around Beca when it came to that stuff. It felt like one wrong move could make her run away. Despite her efforts to keep her love a secret, it eventually got out. During senior year, tensions were high because of graduation. Both girls knew they were going in separate directions, and Chloe was very vocal about her opposition to that.

The night Chloe's feelings were finally admitted, the girls had been on a walk. "Their spot" was a secluded pond on the edge of campus, and they went there to talk often.

"I still can't believe you're leaving in a couple months." Chloe said innocently. She wasn't trying to start anything, and she genuinely was concerned about the future.

"Chlo, can we not do this right now?" Beca asked.

"No. Let's talk about it." Chloe disagreed. Now that Beca was taking it as an argument, so would she.

"Fine. Yes, I'm moving away." Beca said as if this was new news.

"Do you even care?" Chloe asked.

"Yeah, obviously." Beca said as she kicked a pebble on the path.

"It's really not that obvious. You act like our relationship isn't going to completely change when we don't live together anymore."

"I know, Chloe. Can we just try to forget about it for now?" Beca said clearly frustrated.

"I can't forget about it, Beca. You're leaving and that hurts!" Chloe said as her cheeks turned red. They always did that when she was about to cry, and Beca knew that.

"Why?" Beca asked. She sounded more angry than she tried to. She wasn't even mad at Chloe, but she was confused.

"Because I could have loved you, Beca!" Chloe said raising her voice.

"Could have? Why don't you?" Beca asked. Although she didn't know Chloe was in love with her, she at least thought Chloe loved her as a friend if nothing else.

"Because you gave me nothing to love!" Chloe blurted out. She instantly regretted what she said, but there was no taking it back.

"Got it." Now Beca was the one tearing up.
