🌹Part 5B : Chapter One

~Two years ago~
~Year 2226~

Daciana sat in the corner of her office, hiding from the world, when her doorbell rang. She raised her head before getting up and walked to her front door. Daciana frowned when she opened the door and all that was there was a basket with a blanket as a cover over it. She looked confused before picking up the basket, as cooing came from it.

"Hi." Daciana cooed as she looked at the infant with, almost, orange eyes. "Well, aren't you the cutest thing," Daciana whispered as she looked at the baby. "What's your name?" She asked as she looked around for a note. She let out a small gasp, feigning surprise, when she found one. "Want me to read it out loud?" The baby cooed again and Daciana grinned, the first time she's smiled since Mitch left her. "Okay." She unfolded the note, "'I am looking for my mommy and I think you might be her. Love, baby. P.S. my birthday is July 29.'"

~Now~
~Year 2228~
~Daciana~

"Mama!"

"Yes, baby?" Daciana as she looked up from her computer. "Is that a hognose snake?"

"Uh-huh. Keep him?"

"No. We cannot keep him. We can get you a pet hognose in a few years but we cannot take an animal from the wild." Daciana watched a frown overtake her son's features and she couldn't help but compare him to her ex-husband Mitch when he was upset. "Go put him back where you found him." Daciana scolded and her son frowned before nodding and went back to the wooded area where he found the snake. "Thank you, baby." The two-year-old scowled at his mother before stomping back over to her and raising his arms. "You want cuddles now?" Daciana chuckled before picking him up. "Is it nap time, Agnus?" Daciana asked and Agnus nodded as he got comfortable. Daciana smiled at her son before pulling out a blanket. She wrapped the blanket around her son before going back to work.

Daciana felt eyes on her. She looked behind her and met eyes with Mitch.

"Hi," Mitch whispered as he got over to her.

"What do you want?" Daciana asked as Mitch sat across from her.

"Who's kid is that?" Mitch asked as he motioned to Agnus.

"Why do you care?"

"I want to know if I have a son."

"He's two." Daciana sassed, surprised she could talk to him without breaking down.

"And I left you in September."

"And we weren't having sex for almost a year up until you left." Daciana bluntly stated as she locked her tablet and started putting things away.

"Is he my son?" Mitch asked as Daciana got up and grabbed her bag.

"No." Daciana bluntly answered.

"I want a DNA test."

"He's adopted." Daciana snapped and Mitch recoiled. "Now leave us the fuck alone." Mitch looked down upset.

"When did you adopt him?" Mitch asked and Daciana rolled her eyes before walking off. "Talk to me!" Mitch screamed after her and Daciana ignored him as she walked to her car.
