🌹Part 5B : Chapter Two

~Year 2228~
~Daciana~

Daciana sat in her office when the door opened.

"There's someone here to see you." Daciana looked confused.

"Who?"

"He didn't give a name but you have a free spot so do you want me to send him in?"

"I was actually planning on leaving and spending lunch with my son." Daciana sighed before pulling her book out. "Send him in." The man nodded before leaving the room.

"I don't like that you have a male secretary." Daciana closed her eyes before putting her book back in her bag.

"Get out." Daciana bluntly stated.

"But I have a job for you," Mitch stated and Daciana grabbed her coat off the back of her couch.

"I am saying no." Daciana bluntly stated before leaving her office.

"Don't you need the work?" Mitch asked as he followed her.

"Not from you." Daciana snapped before looking at the man behind the desk. "I will be back at 2:30."

"Yes, ma'am." Daciana left the building with Mitch closely behind her.

"I just want to spend time with my wife."

"Ex-wife, remember." Daciana snapped as she got to her car.

"That was a mistake. Give me an hour to explain my mindset when I decided that."

"No, now two years ago I would have gladly given you the chance to explain but I am done. I'm done with men, I'm done with relationships. I'm going to focus on my son and live my best life." Daciana snapped as she opened her door.

"You can't live your best life without me, soulmates remember?" Mitch sarcastically asked and Daciana rolled her eyes as she got in her car.

"Go fuck yourself." Daciana snapped before driving off. Tears ran down her face as she pulled to a stop at a red light. She forced herself to calm down before forcing herself to smile, it's something her therapist told her to do. Along with standing naked in front of a mirror for ten minutes every day.

After twenty minutes she got to Agnus' daycare and walked in.

"Here for your lunch date?"

"Yes, I am." Daciana smiled before her son came barreling at her screaming 'mama'. "Hi, baby."

"Where today?"

"Well, I was thinking we could let you pick. I have some pictures for you to pick from but we will do that in the car. Is that okay?"

"Pick?" Agnus asked as he pointed to himself and Daciana nodded before poking his chest.

"Pick." She repeated before signing him out and went to her car. "Here are the choices." Daciana started before a hand met the small of her back. Her happy expression melted away quickly as she stood up and met eyes with nothing.

"Mama, okay?" Agnus asked and Daciana nodded.

"Mama okay." She nodded before showing her son some pictures.

"Park! Park!"

"Okay, that's the one we eat at then." Daciana smiled before closing the door. She turned and took a few deep breaths. She opened her eyes and met eyes with Mitch from across the street. The two stared at each other for a few more seconds before Daciana looked away and got in her car before pulling out of the spot. She drove past him and Mitch watched her drive past, and in that moment she realized that holding the grudge of him leaving wouldn't stay if he continued to force his way into their lives.

"Mama, who that?"

"No one, baby."

"Papa?" Agnus asked and Daciana looked confused.

"Baby, we've talked about this. You don't have a papa." Daciana hummed and Agnus frowned.

"I want papa."

"We'll see." Daciana sighed and Agnus grinned.

Daciana opened the junk drawer and pulled out the paper Catina handed her with Mitch's number on it. She stared at the numbed before shaking her head and putting it back in the drawer.

"You okay?" Catina asked and Daciana looked at her before shrugging.

"Agnus asked for a papa today."

"What?"

"That's not the strange part." Catina looked even more confused. "He only asked after calling Mitch Papa."

"He called Mitch papa?"

"Not to his face, thankfully."

"Yeah, that would go to his head." Catina chuckled causing Daciana to let out a chuckle. "Are you thinking of calling him?"

"Is it wrong that I am? I mean he left me when we needed each other most."

"You aren't wrong. I think you should talk to him... If anything just do it for closure."

"What if I do it and it just eggs him on to continue stalking me? It has been months and he's everywhere I am with my son. He showed up at my work today, Catina."

"What did he say?"

"He wanted to hire me for a job."

"Oh?"

"If I keep seeing him I'm going to forgive him and I know I shouldn't 'cause what he did was absolutely shitty... But is it wrong that I understand why he did and said what he did?" Daciana asked and Catina frowned.

"No, but it's still shitty that he told you you were only good for having babies."

"Yeah, and that's why I should stay mad and not give him another chance but just seeing him isn't helping."

"You still love him?" Catina asked and Daciana sighed.

"Maybe. I don't know... I know that I still want to be married to him and I would love if he was Agnus' father."

"Why don't you write a list and I can give it to him."

"List?"

"Like rules, if you two were to get back together, he'd have to follow them and if he broke one it's over," Catina stated and Daciana rolled her eyes.

"No." Daciana denied before turning to look at her sister. "No. I'm going to stick to my convictions and stay mad at him for at least twenty more years and not give him the satisfaction of raising my kid with me."

"Alright." Catina nodded before Daciana walked past her and went to her room.
