AKA Hunting for a shorter title to this chapter.
AJ, Clem, and I walked out into the woods with Louis and Aasim. "Watch out for rabbit traps. I don't wanna have to cut you down." Aasim said.
"No need to worry, Aasim. I am a ninja after all." Louis said, holding his hands up in a ninja like pose.
"Oh, i thought I was the only one." Clem said, doing the same.
"Oh, my god." Aasim groaned. "We got work to do. Not all of us have the privilege of being Marlon's lapdog."
"He always like this?" I whispered to Louis.
"Nah, he's just jealous. In my defense, i totally get things done. I just think of survival as more of a...day-to-day task." Louis said.
"You do what you do to survive. Thats all that matters." Clem told Louis.
"Glad that you understand." Louis said. We kept moving and we saw a walker in a rabbit trap. "Kill it and take it down." Aasim said.
"What? No way! Its like a walker piñata." Louis said, poking at it with his chair leg. Aasim walked away and Louis looked at Clem. "Wanna take a swing?" He asked her, holding his chair leg out. "It won't bite. Well, that guy would, but the bat wont. You get it." He said.
"Alright, I'll take a swing." Clem took the bat.
"Sorry about Aasim, by the way. He isn't always so lame. But lucky for you, this is Team Fun." Louis said.
"Team Fun?" AJ asked.
"Thats right! Team Fun. And your membership has just been accepted." Louis said. Clem placed a hand on her hip. "Now, first order of business, a little batting practice."
Clem walked up the the walker and swung, hitting the walker square in the head. "Woo! If the Olympics were still a thing, you'd get a silver, no question."
"Louis, we should be hunting instead of beating a walker with a chair leg with nails and knifes in it." I told him.
"Hey, first off, its called Chairles." Louis said. "Clem, why don't you let Y/n take a swing? So he can blow off some steam." He suggested. Clem held Chairles out to me. "Come on, Y/n. Try it out." She said.
"Fine." I took Chairles from her. I went to the walker. "Batter up, smelly." I said. I gave a hard swing with the bat and hit the walker's head. "All right, Y/n! Now you earned yourself a gold." Louis said.
"Oh, so its a competition, now?" Clem asked.
"All right. Take it Clem." I gave her Chairles. She swung at the walker, breaking its jaw off and killing it. "Home run!" Louis exclaimed.
"Well, Clem wins that round. Gg." I said as I high-fived my sister.
"See, don't you feel better now that you blew off some steam?" Louis asked us.
"Yeah, actually. I think I needed that." Clem said, smiling.
"Yeah...yeah, that felt good." I said.
"Clem! Y/n! C'mere!" AJ called. We walked over and saw a baby rabbit in the rabbit snare. "Well, all meat is good meat." Louis said.
"Not enough. Let it get bigger." Aasim said. I grabbed the rabbit by the legs and Clem untied it. I sat the little rabbit down on the ground and watched it hop away. "I get it. I wouldn't wanna kill a baby bunny, either." Louis said.
Aasim had a fully grown bunny and returned to the school. "Lets go get Brody and Violet. Come on." Louis said.
"Do you like fish?" AJ asked Louis.
"I once ate a whole shark." He told AJ.We got to the fishing hut. Louis opened the hut door and saw it was completely ransacked. "The place was robbed." Louis told us. "Brody? Violet?" He called out.
"Spread out. We'll find them." Aasim said. I checked in the barrel to see if I could find anything in there. "Is this a bible page?" Clem asked. I turned around and saw her at a shelf.
"What'd you find?" I asked. Me, Louis, and AJ came up behind Clem.
"Cigarette bud." Clem said. She showed us the hand-rolled cigarette. "Do any of the kids smoke?" She asked Louis.
"No." Louis told us.
"What have we here?" We heard. It was from Violet. Her and Brody came around with a bucket and fishing spears. "Nice to see ya." I said, smiling. "Where have you been?"
"Fishing. Whats going on?" Violet asked us.
"The fishing shack's been ransacked." Aasim said.
"Someone robbed us?" Brody asked. She turned around and panicked. "Fuck thats...fuck...fuck! Its just... fuck... its okay, its okay... breath, Brody, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon." Brody panicked.
Close your eyes and listen to this dialogue in game. It sounds so bad out of context.
"Relax. Its a panic attack." Violet said, trying to calm the panicked and sounding frightened Brody down.
"Take a second. Breathe in deep, and hold it." Clem said, trying to help.
"Just shut the fuck up, okay?" Brody demanded.
"Excuse me?!" I asked, obviously pissed.
"I have to tell Marlon about this." She said. She took the bucket from Violet and started walking back to the school.
"I'll take this haul back to the school." Aasim said, referring to the rabbit we had. "Maybe we can ration out something." Aasim started walking back, leaving me, Clem, and AJ with Louis and Violet.
"So what do we do? Eat rocks?" Louis asked.
"Will Marlon kick us out if we don't find food?" AJ asked.
"Lets not find out. You still got the map?" I asked Clem.
"Yeah." She took the map out of her pocket and opened it. I took a look at it with her. "The train station. Its not too far from here." Clem said.
"Yeah, but its outside the safe zone." Violet commented.
"Well, there was some food there when we were there. Its worth the risk." I said.
"You sure there was food?"
"Positive. Some of it probably got destroyed in the explosion, but there has to be something left. There was so much there." Clem told her.
I could tell that Louis and Violet were definitely skeptical, but they agreed to it.
