Vol. 2 Ch. 15 Underground City

Your POV

When I got there, I saw someone with a familiar red cape standing near a wall on the bottom floor. I smirked and said, "I wasn't expecting a welcoming party." She turned and aimed Crescent Rose at my face, before she realized it was only me and lowered it as she said, "Oh, Y/N. You're back. Where'd you go? You disappeared on us earlier." I smiled and said, "You had your mission, I had one of my own that was a bit more personal." Ruby nodded and said, "Oh, right. I forgot that Vault is located nearby." I ruffled her hair and said, "It's okay. So what are you doing down here by yourself." She rolled her eyes as she pointed at the dog from earlier and said, "Zwei, here, ran out here to relieve himself." I nodded and said, "I take it that Zwei is your dog?" She nodded and said, "Yep. He normally stays at home with our dad, but our dad sent him to Yang and I while he went off on a mission." I nodded in understanding and said, "I see. Well, I think we should probably get back to the others."

Zwei barked in reply and then Ruby and I heard someone say, "What was that?" We quickly hid behind some of the ruins and peaked out to see 2 White Fang members. Then one said, "What was what?" The other one replied, "I thought I heard a Beowolf or something." The first one then said, "Hmph. Let's just finish our patrol and get back to base. This place gives me the creeps." Before Ruby could do anything else, I spoke up quietly and said, "It's a good thing I'm here." She nodded and we sneak around while we followed the White Fang members. They eventually reached a ruined building with a pair of metal doors, and we hid behind a corner, with me holding Zwei out to watch them. I whispered to Zwei, "Did they go in yet? One bark means yes." The sound of the door closing echoed out, then Zwei barked once. Then Ruby said, "Oh! This is it! This is it!" She pulled out her scroll and tried to call her teammates. However, the screen says Low Signal. Then she said, "Aw man! Come on, we gotta get the others!"

Ruby, Zwei, and I hurried off down the street. However, the asphalt beneath Ruby and Zwei suddenly sinks before caving in. I managed to catch her and said, "Quick, toss Zwei up!" She tossed him up with her other hand. He landed next to me and I felt the ground shift suddenly, causing me to lose my grip on Ruby's hand as she fell. I sighed and said, "Eddie, you and Zwei go get the others. I'm going after Ruby." ED-E let out an affirmative bleep as Zwei barked, then they both went off if the direction of the others. I grabbed Crescent Rose, shifted it into its scythe form, and stabbed it into the ground for the others to find. Once I secured my backpack on my back, I took a deep breath and muttered to myself, "Here goes nothing." And with that, I jumped into the hole.

When I reached the bottom, I spotted Ruby being cornered by two White Fang guards. Both guards approach her, and one of them grabs her arm. Ruby jerked her arm out of the guard's hand and started punching him, as she said, "Hey! Hands off!" It had very little effect, and he punched her in the face hard enough to knock her down. The guard then said, "The boss is gonna want to see this one..." Then he kicked her in the head hard enough to knock her out. I quietly and stealthily followed after them, making sure to stay out of sight and hiding in the shadows and rooftops. Once the White Fang guards had dragged Ruby to the main part of underground city that was full of other members of the White Fang doing various things, I realized that I'd need to get closer.

Quietly, I grabbed Ranger Sequoia out of my backpack and secured its holster on my hip. Once I made sure it was fully loaded, I closed my backpack and secured on my back once more. Now that I had a second weapon that I could draw faster, I returned my eye back to the White Fang members and stealthily made my way off the rooftop I was on.

Yang's POV

As my shift ended, I turned to let Weiss know that it was her turn to keep watch. I spoke up and said, "Hey Weiss, it's your... Ruby? Hey, where's Ruby?" As everyone else saw that my sister's sleeping bag was empty, Zwei came running into the room, barking, with ED-E following behind him. I looked at the two of them confused and said, "Zwei? Eddie?" Blake spoke up and said, "What's going on?" Oobleck replied and said, "Grab your weapons! Your leader and friend may be in trouble."
