(Y/n)'s POV

I sit next to mom as she turns one of the pages in an old family scrapbook. She and I had a few laughs when it showed some embarrassing moments for us and Lloyd and even dad.

"Oh, I remember this." She coos.

It was a picture of me trying to dress a baby Lloyd up for Christmas.

I groan, "I don't want to remember it. After he realized that Santa had reindeer, he wanted me to give him a piggyback ride everywhere we went."

"We should show the ninja." Mom states.

My eyes widen in horror, "Definitely not, they would tease me for weeks!

Mom laughs before closing the scrapbook, "Well, I'm sure Lloyd would like to see it."

I shake my head, "Mom. I'm pretty sure Lloyd wouldn't want you to show that either."

She laughs again before turning the page and frowning. I look at the page and see a picture of a kid mom standing with two rich looking people.

'Oh.'

"Those are your parents, aren't they?" I ask, looking at the resemblance between the three.

Mom sighs and picks up the picture, "Yes, they are...or at least they were. It's been so long, I wonder if they'd be proud of-"

"They would be." I assure her, "I may have never met them, but if they were anything like you, then I would've loved them, and I know they would still love you, even after all this time."

I take the picture and put it in an empty picture frame on the table. I hand mom a candle and she smiles at me before lighting it and placing it next to the picture.

"Thank you, (Y/n)." Mom says, pulling me into a hug, "Happy Day of the Departed."

"Happy Day of the Departed." I repeat as I hug her back.

My eyes land on the clock on the wall and I gasp, "Is that the time?!"

'I was supposed to be at the orphanage two hours ago!'

I quickly get up and gather all my stuff, "Gah! I am so late, the kids are going to be so upset!"

Mom looks at the clock before smiling, "Why don't I give you an early birthday present? It'll help you get there faster."

I stop what I'm doing and look at her, "Present?"

She stands up from the couch and walks outside to the front yard and I follow her. She takes out a remote and steel crate before leaving, she places the create on the ground and clicks a button on the remote while pointing at the crate.

The crate starts to shake a bit, but then it stops as it then transforms a purple and black mech.

“I call it, The Shadow Slayer.” She says.

My mouth hangs open as I look at the mech. But then, I smile before giving mom a tight hug.

"This is so awesome, thank you!" I exclaim. I then realize something as I release her from the hug, "Mom…how much of the house has technology like this?"

She chuckles, "Not much, but still enough for me to store things like mechs inside. Speaking of which, shouldn't you be heading over to the orphanage?"

My eyes widen, “Oh yeah right!” I say before jumping into the mech and starting it up, “Thanks for the gift mom.”

“I’ll see you at the museum.” Mom smiles, “And tell the kids I said happy Day of the Departed.”

“I will!” I reply before I start running off in the direction of the city.
