How to Build a Dragon

Jay's POV

I remember when I first met Wu, I was still trying out crazy machines and tech ideas. At the time, I was trying out a glider.

"Jay, honey! Be back by supper!" Mom had called out as I was leaving the junk yard.

I groaned before yelling back, "I will, Mom!"

"And no crazy stunts, okay?!" Mom warns.

"I won't, Mom!" I lied before making my way to Ninjago City.

Once I got there, I quickly got to a roof of a tall building before strapping my glider to my back and putting on my gear.

I took a few deep breaths, "I can do this. Sixth time's the charm." I jumped off the tall building and immediately started screaming in fear, but that fear quickly turned to joy as the glider picked up wind, causing me to do loop de loops, "I can fly!"

But then I crashed through a billboard, causing my glider to be destroyed. I groan as I get up and look at the remaining pieces, "I've had it. You piece of useless, broken junk!" I hit the broken glider before sighing, "It's impossible."

"Is it?" A voice asks.

I looked up in shock, not knowing someone would be up here. There was Wu, sitting there with a cup of tea in his hand with a tea kettle right next to him.

He took a sip of his tea before looking back at me, "Or are we just confined by the walls we build ourselves?" An origami bird appeared in his hand before flying away.

"Who are you?" I questioned.

"A dreamer. Like you." He replied, "Attempting to build the impossible. Care to join?"

I had so many questions, yet his answers would've probably brought more questions. So all I did was smile, deciding to see how this long-bearded man would affect me, and my future…

…Even with the situation we're in, that memory always seems to put a smile on my face. But then I became confused as I suddenly hear something repeating on the radio.

I get up and walk to the front of the cage we're in to hear better, "The Resistance never quits!" The voice said, and I gasp, realizing that it was Lloyd.

"Fix your radio, Muzzle. It's driving me crazy!" No-legs complains as the loop continues.

Muzzle turned the radio off, and No-Legs suddenly noticed me, "Hey! Wakey, wakey, ninja! Welcome back to the Dead's End."

I turn to the others as they start waking up, "Guys. I heard Lloyd. The Resistance never quits. It never quits."

"Looks like we lost Jay again." Kai states, causing Doubloon to shake his head in disappointment.

"No, no, no, I'm not crazy." I tell them, "I really heard him. On the radio."

"If that's true, then let's hope Cole and the others can get us out of here." Zane says.

Kai looks back at the wind dragon and frowns, "Yeah. Get us all out of here."

The vehicle we're on stops, and Cole, Wu, Monkey Wrench, and Flintlocke stop beside our cage, and in front of No-Legs, Muzzle, and the chained up dragon.

"We've got it. If we can't shoot straight, may as well make ourselves useful." Cole states.

Muzzle mumbles before him and No-Legs walk away.

"Tell me you have a plan." Kai says as soon as the hunters are out of hearing distance.

"Well it's in the early stages." Cole stammers.
