A/N - I'm sorry...I was asked to break hearts.

You scream while the blade stabs through your body. The angel unsheathes his weapon, laughing at how your body collapsed. Blood creeps up your throat, burning your lungs. You hear someone scream your name, but all goes black.

Rain runs over to you, seeing the angel go to deliver the deadly blow, he quickly cuts the creature down with his claws. He holds you to his chest, the battle coming to an end, "No, no, no, no, Y/n?" He gently taps your cheek with his hand, "Y/n wake up. Y/n?" He feels for a pulse, there is nothing, "Y/N! Y/N NO NO NO WAKE UP" HE screams and shakes your corpse, desperate to revive you. Aether and Swiss run over, drenched in blood, a mix of their own and others. They kneel around Rain, each one starting to cry, "Y/n, Satan, Rain what happened?" Aether asks, holding your hand and placing the other on Rain's shoulder. Rain only shook, his eyes wide, full of tears that streamed down, "Th-Th-They we-were stabbed, I-I couldn't save them in time." Aether looks down at you, your eyes glazed over and empty. Swiss kneels on the opposite side of the pair and closes your eyes, letting his hand linger on your cheek, his thumb gently stroking your face, "They didn't seem to suffer." Swiss whispers through sobs. Your skin is already paling from the lack of blood.

Mountain and Sodo run over, "Hey guys where is Y/-" Sodo drops to his knees beside Swiss, "Y/N? Y/N? NO NO SHE CAN'T BE GONE NO!" You and Sodo had a special relationship. You got him to open up and become a better person, he even started developing feelings for you, which were reciprocated. He screamed as he felt how cold you were. He took you from Rain, holding your head against his chest, frantically rocking back and forth as if it would wake you up. His friends watched in horror at him breaking down. Mountain knees in between Swiss and Aether, no tears fall from his face, but a numb expression covers his features. The group sits there for a while, "We should bring them inside." Mountain says standing and reaching for you. Sodo growls and cries harder, "I love them, they can't be gone, they can't be." Aether and Swiss look at each other with wide eyes, Sodo and you were soulmates. They look back at their friend, lost in his grief.

He cries into your chest, hoping that his sobs would revive you, "I LOVE THEM. I LOVE THEM. WHY SATAN WHY?" He wailed, hyperventilating. A pain filled his entire body, "NO IT'S FADING PLEASE NO!" His soulmate bond was breaking, a sign that you were at peace, but officially gone. Rain quickly grabs you as Sodo's eyes roll back, he lays sprawled out on the battlefield. Swiss rushes to his side, "SODO? SODO WHAT THE HELL?" His pulse was weak, he mumbled something that no one could understand, but then he said, "Give me her, please...please." Swiss understands what's happening, Aether looks at him with tears in his eyes. Swiss helps Sodo sit up, leaning him against his knee. Rain lifts you and places your body over Sodo's legs, your head resting on his chest. His arms weekly wrap around you, "Goodbye guys, I'll be with her, I'll be with her..." he mumbles off, a smile painting his face as his hand rubs her shoulder and hair weakly. He takes one last shaky breath, his hands hall to his sides, eyes flutter shut, and with that, he dies.

The remaining men wipe their tears and stand. They recite a quick prayer. Aether lifts your body, gently carrying you back to the church with Rain in toe. Swiss goes under one of Sodo's arms, Mountain on the other. Aether lays you on a cot in the hallway, the entire building becoming a medical area. Swiss and Mountain place Sodo beside you on the same cot.

The mortician walks over, "They're soulmates. They get a pyre together." Aether says, his voice sure and certain. The mortician nods and ushers the living ghouls away. They retire to the ghoul common room. The group sits in silence. They lost a brother and a sister. The ghoulettes walk in a few hours later, "Is everyone okay?" Cumulus asks. The ghoulettes work as medics during battle. Aether looks up at the three girls and shakes his head no, "Y/n and Sodo have..." He started crying, no more needed to be said. Cumulus moves to hug Aether, Sunshine reaches for Swiss as she collapses screaming. Cirrus just looks numbly at Rain and Mountain. The group stayed together that night, none of them changing their clothes, patching their cuts, or moving.

Aether stands in the mirror straightening his tie. Swiss knocks on his door frame, "Can I come in?" Aether nods, making eye contact with Swiss through the mirror. Swiss sits on his bed as he finishes getting ready, "We're all going to walk up together." Aether nods, pulling his suspenders over his shoulders, "We all agreed that you should light the pyre." Swiss says monotone. Aether freezes, "No, no I can't you do it." He says slipping on his mask. Swiss stands and holds a paper out to Aether, the quintessence ghoul cautiously takes it, the note reads,

If I, Y/n L/n, ever die before verbally establishing this precedent, I want Aether, the quintessence ghoul, to light my funeral pyre. I want my belongings to be split amongst Swiss, Sodo, Rain, Mountain, Sunshine, Cumulus, and Cirrus.

Your signature decorates the bottom. He cries. Aether was the first person to welcome you to the clergy, it was an honor to light a funeral pyre, but you were so young, so beautiful, and died unjustly. Swiss hugs him, Aether hugs back and takes a few shaky breaths, "Okay, okay let's go." They meet the others and walk to the cathedral.

The wooden doors open, revealing the group of seven. The pews filled with siblings of sin mourning the loss of both you and Sodo. A choir sings above as they enter. The aisle is lined with white and black roses. Aether leads the group, the others lining up in twos behind him. They all ascend the stairs and surround the altar. Branches painted with gold interlaced with red roses decorate the marble slab, Y/n lay in a white dress, simple, plain with their hair draped over the marble. Sodo wears a white button up shirt and black slacks. Their hands interwoven with the rings they wore everyday. A rose clasped between their fingers. Sunshine lets out a whimper and clasps her hand over her mouth. Swiss wraps his arm around her, letting her cry on his shoulder. Cumulus reached for Aether's hand, noticing his breath quicken. He grips it, desperate for it to ground him.

After a few more minutes of silent prayers, sobs, and memories. Nihil enters with a torch, "I believe Aether is the one lighting the pyre." Cumulus let go of his hand, the others stepped away and sat in the front pew. Aether takes the torch from Nihil and walks to the front of the altar. Nihil leads a prayer, but he doesn't hear it. He focuses on Sodo's relaxed face, Y/n's pale skin, and takes a deep breath, "Nema." He chants with the congregation. He drops the torch into the wood and moves to sit with his friends. They watch as the fire encapsulates them. Tears continue to flow, mainly with anxiety. Y/n's body was the first to glimmer and float, her hand still intertwined with Sodo's. It took another moment, but Sodo levitates and glows too. Rays of light flood the church. The beauty of the moment encapsulated everyone.

In the blink of an eye, they evaporated. The pyre burned out, still in pristine condition. The group smiled, "They're together" Cumulus whispered to Aether who's face still looked shocked, "Yes, they are." a small smile falls on his face. Swiss looked around at them, "Who would have thought sweet little y/n would have gotten with Sodo." The group laughs and embraces each other.
