"DAAAAAAD!" You shout, the images of your nightmare playing over and over in your head. Within seconds Terzo bursts through the door, your mother, Mary not far behind, "What is it? Are you alright?" He asks, quickly pulling you to his chest, his hands checking for any wounds. Mary gracefully sits beside her clearly estranged husband, "Was it the dreams again, mi cara?" she asks, gently placing a hand on your shaking back, you nod your head, still scared and bawling.

Terzo sighs, holding you tighter to him, "Daddy's here, Y/n. Daddy won't let anything hurt you, you know that." He comforts, moving to sit against your bed's headboard, Mary moved beside him, he wrapped one arm around her. You look up at your mother's comforting face and quickly throw yourself into her arms, "Oh mi amor," She says, starting to tear up, "You're safe now. You are guarded by us, the guards, the ghouls." You perked up at the mention of the ghouls, "We all love you, we love you so, so much." Her hand gently plays with your hair. Your tears let up, "Are you better now?" She asks, you nod 'yes' into her chest, "Would you like to talk about it?" you nod 'no'. The three of you sat in comfortable silence, just taking in the moment of peace.

You pulled away from your mother and looked at her with wide, pleading eyes, "You want to see him, don't you?" She giggles slightly, you give a small smile, blush forming on your cheeks, "See who? See 'him' who's him?" Terzo asks, a scowl on his face, "If I let him sleep over...can you fall back asleep?" You nod 'yes',

"Amore!" Terzo shouts slightly, "HIM a boy? This is a boy si?" Terzo started to panic, his child already involved with relationships, "FOR SATAN'S SAKE TERZO!" Mary snapped back, "They are seven!"

"Seven and a half!" You pipe up, both of your parents laugh, Mary continues,

"Just listen to me, don't talk. Y/n and Swiss have become close friends" Terzo's face turned red, "They have been playing outside in the gardens together," Terzo gripped the sheets, his claws seconds from jutting out, Mary notices, "They feel SAFE with him." She emphasizes. Terzo relaxes. You feeling safe since the incident has been his one goal in life, he swallows dryly, "Safe?" You nod, Mary smiles slowly, "Safe, Terzo, she feels safe." Mary confirmed. Terzo looked his wife in the eyes, a silent conversation of bargaining and understanding, "Fine." Terzo says, sighing, "But tomorrow, I get to talk to him." You looked at your dad with wide eyes, "No. He's nice." You say with as much attitude you could, they only laugh, "Alright, I'll get him, stay here." Terzo says standing, leaving you with your mother.

"Y/n." Your mother catches your attention, "You know what Swiss is right?" She asks tentatively, you only smile and nod, "He is a ghoul! A special one too." You say laughing, Mary laughs too, "Yes! So, can you and mommy make a promise?" You nod, she holds up her pinky finger, "If he says he can feel you being sad or scared or tired, tell mommy tomorrow at breakfast." You interlock your pinky with her, "Okay!"

Right as your hands untwine, Terzo opens the door, a small Swiss standing in front of him. You look at him and yell, "SWISS!!!" You scramble off your mother's lap and throw yourself into his arms. He staggered back slightly, but quickly hugged you back, "Hi, Y/n!" He said, yawning after, "Alright little ones, bed time." Mary says, getting off of the bed. You practically drag Swiss over to the bed, your mother watches adoringly, Terzo watches with a scowl, "Good night, Swiss and Y/n!" She says starting to close the door. It shuts with a thud and click of a lock.

"Was it another scary dream?" Swiss asks, fixing the covers to lay over both of you, "Yeah, they keep going longer than the last." You admit, the memories of the dream make your heart thump and blood run cold. Swiss feels a shiver run up his spine, "Hey, hey don't be scared." He says, hugging you to him, "I'm here now, and I'm nine! The monsters are scared of older people." he says. You laugh, "I'm seven and a half!" You argue back, "Still not nine." He quipped back. Your lighthearted giggling is interrupted by a yawn, "Go to sleep, Star" that was his nickname for you, "I'll fight off the monsters." You mumble a thanks and fall asleep. Swiss tucked the covers around you and lay on top of the covers beside you, watching, scanning the room for any threat. He didn't care if he didn't sleep, as long as you were safe and happy.
