You still don't know how you got here. It was the dead of winter and somehow you were trekking in the woods. An argument with your parents caused the initial split, they threw you out, whatever. The journey to the actual forest was erased from the hypothermia slowly creeping in.
The snow started to feel...warm...inviting
Your steps slow down drastically,
Your eyes feel heavy,
You can't feel your hands,
You lay down,
And sleep...
"FUCK THIS SHIT!" Sodo screams, pissed that Papa made him collect wood. He's a fire ghoul, being in the cold is damaging and painful. The ministry is so old, that central heating and air conditioning isn't installed. One ghoul has to hike out to the cabin, gather pre-cut firewood, and haul it back to the ministry.
Sodo kept his head low, the snow starting to fall harder turning into a blizzard. He wraps his scarf around him tighter, and starts to walk faster.
About half way into the woods, Sodo notices a breathing figure laying in the show, their body slightly covered in the white frost. He quickly rushes over to the thing and turns it over, he gasps, it's a human. He picks them up and starts to hurriedly run to the cabin.
You let out a small whimper at being picked up, but the cold was too deep, too violent, you couldn't speak or move, "Hey, hey it's okay, it's okay." The man says, "I got you, you'll be warm in no time."
Sodo tried his hardest to flow some sort of heat into your shaking body, but the cold was growing too cold, he had to conserve it to stay alive.
The cabin came into view and Sodo sighed in relief, "Just a little longer, snowflake." He whispers, laughing lightly at the new nickname he created. He opened the door, grunting to shut it against the wind. The cabin was old, but sturdy.
Sodo gently laid you onto the couch. He quickly placed dry firewood into the stone fireplace and snapped his fingers, immediately igniting the fire. He stripped himself of his soaking clothes, leaving him shirtless and in a dry pair of gym shorts. He looked back over to you, still shivering, barely breathing. He sucked back his pride, and in order to save your life, he began to strip you down too.
He was shocked at how little clothing you were already wearing, only a thin leather jacket, tank-top, and pajama shorts covered your skin. Bear Paw boots that were soaked through covered your bare feet. Sodo sucked in a breath as your naked body continued to shake and groan. He placed two fingers on your neck, your pulse was erratic, slow, and unsteady. He had to warm you up.
He quickly picked you up and walked over to the fire, sitting close enough to feel the flames emit the hottest heat they could. He cradled your body over his lap, starting to feed in some of his abilities to warm your frozen body, "Come on...come on..." He mumbled, noticing how you barely reacted to his touch and warmth.
You start to feel warmth, comfort, almost safe. How? The snow was too cold, your body gave out, is this what death felt like? You move your head, "Hey! Hey, snowflake, wake up!" a voice shouts, I try to snap my eyes open, but I can't, I'm still too weak. I try to move my hand, "There you go, there you go," The voice cheers you on, you feel your lips twitch into a smile. After another second, you open your eyes slowly, "Hi, snowflake." The man holding you says, you look confused, his skin was gray, his eyes an amber, red hue, he couldn't be human,
"I'm Sodo, I promise I'm not gonna hurt ya, I found you in the woods." Sodo explains, he looked relieved, "How are you feeling?"
You try to talk, but the only sounds that come out are pained groans and chattering teeth, "C-cold." you say curling into yourself, you gasp feeling no clothing covering you, "W-what?" you ask, trying to figure out why you were naked, "Shhh, it's okay, it's okay you were soaking wet and you were going to get hyperthermia, I had to get you out of those clothes, just focus on heating up, okay?"
You nod, you don't know why, but you feel safe, comforted, and actually relaxed for the first time in years. You snuggle against him, letting your hands fold in your lap. You keep your eyes open as his hands roam your body, slowly, leaving a trail of heat across your frozen skin.
After a few minutes of silence, Sodo asks, "Are you feeling better? Warmer?" You nod and look up at him, "T-Thank you." He smiles, "What's your name, snowflake?" I smile at his kindness,
"Y/n."
Sodo's heart beat faster, that name sounded like honey, sugar, and warmth, it was beautiful,
"Y/n...what a beautiful, stunning name for an amazing person." Sodo gushes. Your body finally feels just a slight chill, color returns to your face, "You're starting to blush..." He smiles and laughs, you giggle, "Well, Sodo..." saying his name felt right, comforting, "I do feel better." You didn't move, you didn't want to move.
You felt safe,
"Let's get you to bed, I'll sleep on the couch." Sodo offers, standing with you still in his arms,
"N-No, please, stay with me?" You ask, flushing at how desperate you sound, "I don't want to be alone."
Sodo nods, "Then, let's get us both to bed." He gently places you down on the quilts, tucking you in before he leaves the room and returns with some logs, stocking the wood stove in the corner. You couldn't see well because of the dim light, but the fire lit without a match. You thought it strange, but maybe it was still the cold nipping away at your logic.
He crawls into bed, gently pulling you on top of him, you snuggle into him, he felt like a human sized heating pad, he felt like heaven.
"Sleep, Y/n, I'll take you home tomorrow." He whispers.
Your eyes snap open, "No, no please, not my home, no I can't"
He raises an eyebrow at the panic in your voice, "I-is that why you were in the woods?" he asked concern and pity filling his gaze,
"I-yes." You say curtly, trying not to relive the earlier events, "I-I have nowhere to go." you whisper, realizing how screwed you were after tonight.
Sodo's heart broke, he didn't realize how bad your situation was, "You know, snowflake, I have a place where you can stay." You perk up and look at him hopefully, "It's called the Church of Emeritus." You roll your eyes,
"I'm not a fan of religion."
"Oh, no it's not a...traditional church...we..um..." Sodo tried to explain, "We worship Satan, but like...we're basically do what you want just don't be an ass..."
You laugh lightly, "I can handle that, is that where you are from?" He nods, "What are you? You can't be human..." I whisper curiously, gently feeling his face and horns,
"I'll explain everything tomorrow, snowflake, we'll figure it out then, but sleep now." Sodo gently runs his fingers through your hair, "I'll make everything alright, but rest now, okay?"
You nod and doze off, warm, safe, and anxious for your new life
