Today was the day. Finally the band was coming back to the church. You anxiously stay up all night, waiting for the moment Mountain is back in your arms. You toss and turn, desperate for his touch. It's been a year and then some. All day, you run around the ministry, clean your shared room, and help other siblings and ghouls with tasks.
You sit in the kitchen, chopping vegetables for dinner that night when Sister Mary sets up another cutting board next to you, "Y/n you've been working like a mule all day." She says, laughing at how quickly you chop the vegetables, "I know I know, I'm just so nervous to see him again, what if he doesn't like me any more." You say, voice wavering slightly. Sister Mary picks up a carrot, "Oh please, that man is desperately in love with you, he sticks on you like glue." She reassures, "Let me help you." She says, picking up a few more vegetables from your pile. You check the clock 4:42 eighteen more minutes. Mary takes the knife out of your hand, "Go get cleaned up, I can already tell you're both going to cry." She smiles. You nod to her, a silent thanks and run out of the kitchen.
You quickly run into you and Mountain's shared room, double checking that everything is in perfect condition. You run into the bathroom and turn the light on. You smooth your hair with your hands, straighten your skirt, and check to make sure there is no lipstick or food in your teeth. You wash your hands, hard, desperate to make sure everything is perfect. You stop when your hands are red. You wipe them off on a towel and check your watch, 4:56. You let out a squeal unintentionally and start sprinting to the front of the church.
The crowd was huge. Everyone in the ministry must have been there. You quickly push your way to the front. Everyone knows that you were dating Mountain, it wasn't a secret, so they helped you stand at the front. You hear screams from the crowds lined up at the end of the road. Leading over the barricade, you see the bus. Tears, nerves, and joy fill your body, your legs start bouncing nervously. You fidget with the ring he gave you before he left. The bus stops at the front of the steps, the tinted windows hiding the band. Your heart races, harder and faster. The band starts to file off of the bus.
Papa...then Sodo...then Aether...then Swiss...then Cumulus...then Cirrus...then Sunshine. Tears fill your eyes, just seeing his shadow cover the pavement makes you cry. Mountain. He steps off, searching for you, "BABE!" You scream and wave your hands. His head snaps to where he heard your voice, his shoulder shakes, tears falling from under his mask. He runs over to you, picking you up over the barrier and spinning around with you in his arms, "You're here! You're here!" You cry into his shoulder, taking in his scent, his muscles, him. He's been gone for a year and hasn't come back. Papa never let him leave, "I'm here, I'm here flower." He says, his voice cracking with tears. He moves one hand in your hair, the other pulls your body impossibly closer to him. Usually, neither of you like PDA, but with both of you in each other's arms, the cheers were drawn out, "I missed you so much." You say, laughing slightly at how emotional both of you are.
Your hands move under his mask, feeling his face makes you cry harder. He can't hold back, he pulls you to his lips, the black paint transferring to your lips. Mountain moans against your lips, you whimper back, "Lets go to the room. Please, please." He begs breathless. You only hug him tighter, "I want nothing more." He holds your arm and practically sprints to your room. You both smile, finally back together.
