"Sodo, please. I want cuddles." Rain begs, clinging to a clearly annoyed fire ghoul, "Rain, we are in public." Sodo scolds through gritted teeth. They were just chilling in the common room with the other ghouls who were all preoccupied at the moment. Aether was busy trying to fit a snapped string on his guitar, Mountain was taking a nap on the other couch, and Swiss was too focused on his game to notice anything else, "Sodo, please, please no one's looking." Rain tries to convince starting to nuzzle into his boyfriend's side, he purred softly, "Rain. Stop." Sodo said, pushing the water ghoul away from him. Sodo hated public displays of affection, especially in front of the other ghouls. It wasn't a case of embarrassment, but a case of hurt pride.
Rain looked at his boyfriend, tears forming in his eyes. Sodo didn't always love cuddling in the common room, but at the very least he would hold his hand. Sodo didn't even look over at him, he just kept staring at his phone, double clicking the screen every few seconds. Rain felt as if his heart would snap in half. It was a stressful week and now it was a Friday night, date night. Sodo knew he was struggling with his anxiety and stress, the last thing he needed was his mate pushing him away. Rain growled softly, a warning. Sodo didn't even look up from the screen, he just sighed dramatically. A few tears spilled out of Rain's eyes, he sniffled and ran out of the room. Sodo didn't look up from his phone. Aether did, he watched as Rain ran out of the room, clearly upset, "Um, Sodo." He says, placing his guitar down. Sodo mumbled some curses, but looked up at Aether, "What?" He sneers. Aether sets his jaw, "Rain just ran out of the room crying. Maybe go fix whatever you just caused." He says back in a mocking tone.
Sodo quickly stood and walked out of the room, now feeling bad about pushing Rain away. He hurriedly rushed to their room, taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door. He could hear Rain's sobs, his heart shattered, "Raindrop, please, I'm sorry, I'm here, let me help." He says, hand on the door knob knowing that he might not be able to hear him, "Go away!" Rain shouts at the door, he is clinging to Sodo's pillow, clinging to it like a scared child. He normally would let Sodo in and his boyfriend would apologize, cuddle, kiss, and make it up to him, but he was tired of that cycle. He knew it was toxic, he knew he couldn't handle much more of his rejection. Sodo's heart stopped hearing Rain tell him to go away, "Rainy, I-"
"GO AWAY" Rain growled, causing Sodo to jump back. The fire ghoul sighs, and slowly opens the door. He tears up at the sight in front of him. Rain was rocking back and forth on their bed, clinging to his pillow. Sodo took a few tentative steps into the room before quietly closing the door. Rain's body shook with his sobs, "Rain, please, talk to me." Sodo whispers, taking two steps towards the bed. Rain turns and throws the pillow at Sodo, the fire ghoul catches it, "NO FUCK YOU! YOU ALWAYS DO THIS!" Rain screamed, pointing at Sodo accusingly, "You turn me away, then I leave, then you act like my savior." He gets off of the bed, eyes slitted, fear racks through Sodo's body, "It's because of YOU that I cry all the time" Rain growls, standing only inches away from his lover, he presses a finger into his chest, "It's because of you NEVER learning after a situation because you're a stubborn asshole." His tears started again, Sodo could only set his jaw and take his boyfriends berate, "I FUCKING HATE YOU!" Rain cried and screamed. His body shook, his legs started to give out, he had no more to give. His body collapsed in on itself, absolutely exhausted from the emotional flood.
Sodo quickly caught Rain before he fell to the floor. He picked him up, still sobbing, but too tired to protest. Sodo laid him onto the bed and crawled beside him, one hand running up and down Rain's back, the other playing with his hair, "I'm sorry, Rain. I really am." He whispers, tears starting to form in his eyes, he never cried. In the year he and Rain have been dating he's never seen him cry, "I'm trying to be better, I promise from here on out I'll be better." His voice cracked as tears poured from his eyes. He pulled Rain into his chest, not wanting him to see him cry.
Rain felt Sodo's breath waiver, he could hear the influx in his voice change, "I love you Rain, I love you more than anything. Please, I'm sorry." Sodo sobs, burying his face into Rain's hair. Rain pulled back from Sodo and looked into his eyes. They were red, puffy, and he was genuinely crying. Rain stopped his flow of tears in shock at Sodo's tears, "I-Sodo..." He whispered, starting to wipe away his lover's tears, "Sodo, I love you, forget everything I said, I love you. I just...you're crying." He laughed slightly towards the end. Rain sat up, pulling Sodo into his lap, "Sodo...you're crying." He says again, rocking Sodo back and forth as his boyfriend clings to his shoulders, "I-I love y-you, Rainy." Sodo sobs into Rain's shoulder, unable to stop his emotion. He never opened up to someone as much as he has to Rain. Rain makes him feel calm, happy, and loved. Without him he wouldn't know what to do, "I-I d-don't want y-you to l-leave me." He cries harder, "Sodo, no, no don't cry over me, you don't have to cry." Rain consoles, a smile never leaving his face. Rain secretly loved that Sodo felt so strongly about him and their relationship, but seeing Sodo cry made his heart hurt more,
"Sodo, I'm not leaving. I love you, I love, love, love you. Sodo, please stop crying, I don't know how to help you when you cry." He laughs at the end, Sodo laughs too, "Rain, I'm sorry, I really, genuinely am sorry." Sodo says, wiping the rest of the tears away, "I promise you I will be better, I just, I've never been in a relationship with someone who loves physical touch." He continues. Rain shakes his head and kisses Sodo deeply, "I know, I know baby, just. We will work on it right?" Rain asks, keeping his voice low, enjoying how Sodo let him hold him, Sodo tended to be the constant dominant, but seeing him be vulnerable made Rain's heart swell, "We will." Sodo responds, pulling Rain into a passionate kiss, "Now come here, I want cuddles." Sodo coos, pulling Rain on top of him. Rain laughed at his clinginess, but purred as he nuzzled into his boyfriend's chest.
