Looking up at the canopy of your bed, you can only sigh. Yes, you lived a lavish, privileged life in the castle, but to what cost? To be married away within a few months? To be a piece of arm candy for an old man? To not marry the one you love? You let out a shaky breath at the thoughts and realization. Tossing the covers off of your body, you slowly make your way over to the large bay window that overlooks the gardens of the palace. A happy sigh leaves your lips as you fantasize about the moments shared in between shrubs and rose bushes with your true love.

You push open the window, the heat becoming unbearable. The cold air sweeps into the room, bringing the presence so well known with it, "Finally, you opened the window." A deep, comforting voice jokes. You turn and face your lover, "I knew that it was you." You tease, leaning on the window ledge.

The creature who portrayed human attributes took a few tentative steps towards you, "Y/n, why are you leaning out of the window?" You only laugh at his concern and lean back, your hair cascading out of the window and into the night air, the aspiration, or what you assumed he was, quickly wrapped his hands around your waist, pulling you up and against him, "That was quite dangerous, dear." He scolds, laughing slightly, "Well, I do like to take risks." You smirk back, your hands tracing the strange looking symbol on his shirt,

"What are these, love?" You ask, almost in a whisper. He stiffens under your touch, "It's what I work for." The sternness in his tone was enough to silence any further questions, "Would you like to lie with me tonight?" He asks tentatively, cautious about her pure demeanor and reputation, "Why do you desire me?" You ask, the creature freezes, "I have no idea, Y/n. I am just drawn to you I-"

"I'm the preacher's daughter" You interrupt, "and you, what are you?" you ask, tired of this charade of normalcy he tried to preserve. You've been talking in circles for weeks about who he was, what he did, in fact, you didn't even know his name, he would just say that he never was given one. You crane your neck up, his height making it hard to look into those deep green eyes and pale skin, "I am nothing." He says, "That's not enough." You scold, moving out of his arms and sitting on the couch facing the fireplace, absolutely done with this game of cat and mouse.

The ghoul paused, realizing that the secrets and lies were starting to take their toll. He ran his hand through his brown locks that needed a trim, and looked over the garden. His glamor wavered slightly, but he takes a deep breath, and regains composure. The demon walks over to the chair, he gets on his knees in front of a clearly agitated Y/n.

You purse your lips looking into the emerald green eyes of a man you thought you knew well, "Tell me. What are you?" You sneer. The ghoul tenses, "I-I am not of your kind." He admits, looking at your knuckles turning white with rage as you grip the arm rests with deadly force, "Again, what are you?" You keep your voice strong, determined, "I'm a demon." He says, you laugh, "Well, maybe a sinner, but certainly not a demon!" You laugh, his eyes move back up to yours, a layer of sincerity and honesty covers their usual bright appearance, "Are you being honest, you're a..." Your heart starts to pound more and more. Demons are monsters, demons aren't humans, you were raised to fear them, how could you love one, it couldn't be true, "No, no I refuse to accept this, you are not evil," You sit up from the chair and hold his face in your hands, if he's here, he's real, demons were not real, they couldn't be if he was one, "you are beautiful, you make me happy, you-I-I love you." Tears prick your eyes as his gaze drifts to the floor, "I-I literally worship you, I desire every waking breath with you." You continue, standing, now you loomed over him, "Why? What sin have I committed large enough to be seduced by your kind?"

"Nothing. You've done nothing." He answers, "Look, your father has secrets and business he cannot disclose with you, I-I was sent to protect you, to watch over you" He continues, starting to slowly stand, you let your hands fall from his face, still holding his stare with tears in your eyes, "that night in the gardens, I wasn't...I let my guard down. A soldier from the Catholic church was sent to attack you, I had to intervene. I've been with you for years, Y/n." He admits, his heart aching and tears forming with every word, "Please, please, flower" You whimper at the nickname, "What does my father do?" You ask, knowing that your emotions would only remain the same, but your logic will waiver, "Y/n, I can not tell you tha-"

"WHAT DOES HE DO?" You scream, too overwhelmed and distraught to remember how thin the walls were. You both freeze, hearing footsteps. The ghoul quickly kissed you, letting out a small sigh, "I love you." He whispers, then disappears into thin air, a gust of wind opening the window. You run over to the opened window, "No, no don't leave me!" You beg, tears still falling.

Your bedroom door slams open, "Y/n! Mi cara, what happened? Are you alright?" Your father rushes into the room, quickly looking out the window with you, "Yes, yes Papa, I'm, I'm alright." You say wiping your tears, "Just a nightmare." He quickly grabs your shoulders and turns you towards him, "Do tell," his gaze terrified you, so much confusion and fear swirled in his stare, "please, Y/n you must tell me." He led you over to the bed, and sat down, still holding your hand, "I-Papa, it" You take a shaky breath, trying to ask the right questions to get your answers, "What, what denomination of church do you preach?" Terzo froze, he didn't know how to respond, he thought lying to you would cover up any issues, any attacks, and any danger, "Catholic." He answers curtly. You pull your hands away, "I know that is a lie, tell me the truth, Papa, please." You practically beg. He takes a shaky breath, "We are the Church of Emeritus." You grumble, "I know that"

"We worship Satan." Your world crashes down, "What?" You ask, thinking that maybe you're just sleep deprived, "We worship Satan. Now go to sleep. Goodnight, Y/n." Terzo rushes out of the room, closing the door behind him, already regretting telling you the truth.

All you can do is sit there in shock. The way that your father just blurted out the truth, the way that your love admitted his true form, and the late hour was too much. You started to breathe irregularly, more tears streaming. Your life was a lie, a lie that came crashing down. Although you didn't want to admit it, your lover being a demon was really not too shocking. The man could teleport, appear and disappear, summon flowers, and could jump from shadow to shadow in the street. You walk over to the window, "Love! My love please!" You beg at a low volume, brutally aware of your father and mother's shouting, "I love you, I love you no matter what you are, please come back, I am so, so sorry." You lean against the window, letting your tears fall onto the stone.

The breeze swarmed into the room, you stepped back from the window, he materialized in front of you and immediately pulled you to his body, "Y/n, I love you, I promise I am not angry with you, I love you, I'm sorry for telling you." He picks you up as if you weighed nothing, and climbs into bed with you still in his arms. You bury your face in his neck, curling into his body, "I am sorry, Y/n. I am sorry that I lied to you, please believe me." He begs, starting to rock you back and forth in his arms. You take a shaky breath and wipe your tears, "I'm sorry I judged you and let my anger out on you. I-I'm sorry, love." He leaned down and kissed you, you immediately melted.

Mountain pulled back, loving how you kept your eyes closed for an extra second, "Y/n," he whispered, you open your eyes slowly, "Will you name me?" He asks, a blush spreading across his face, "Why do you want me to name you? Why can you not name yourself?" You ask confused, he sighs, "Ghouls, the kind of demon I am, need to be named by others, someone they trust, someone they love." He whispered the last part, you smile, "Mountain." You say surely. He laughs lightly, "Mountain. Why, Mountain?" He asks, "Because you are the tallest person I have ever seen, and you love nature, I know we do not have white roses in our garden." You add, looking over at the numerous vases of flowers around your room. Mountain laughs, "Then it is absolutely perfect, flower." He kisses your forehead, you yawn, "Maybe you should sleep." Mountain recommends, moving you off of his lap and onto the pillows, "Can you stay with me, Mountain?" You ask, feeling a stronger connection to him as you say his name.

He smiles, "Is that what you desire?" He asks, a playful smirk on his face, "Yes, it is what I desire." You hold out your arms, silently asking him to join you under the covers. Mountain ponders this for a moment, but obliges, laying beside you, "Can you hold me?" You ask, trying to not giggle at his nervousness, "Y/n, should we? W-What would your father say?" He stutters slightly, adding to the clear anxiety, "Yes. Yes we should." You say confidently, to hell with your father, he just betrayed your trust.

Mountain slowly, cautiously places his hand on your waist, you place yours on his chest, "I love you, Mountain." You whisper, kissing his cheek, "I adore your love." Mountain responds, kissing your forehead, "Now sleep, I'll protect you." You nod and doze off, happy to be with your love, Mountain.
