(Y/n) groans softly as she waddles to the kitchen.
Keigo looks over from the sink and laughs softly. "Hey kid, you ok?"
The woman glares at her husband. "Do I look or sound ok?"
He holds up his hands in surrender. "Sorry, my bad. What do you need, baby bird?"
"I want ice cream." She pouts and shuffles to the freezer.
The blonde shakes his head and picks her up bridal style.
One feather opens the door, another grabs the ice cream and one grabs a spoon.
He carries her to their bed and sits down, putting her between his legs.
"Ya know, even after 8 years of marriage I still hate when you carry me. Now that I'm heavy as hell I hate it more."
"Well I love it. And you're not heavy, you're pregnant."
"Fuck off. Being pregnant makes me heavy."

"Are you taking time off from UA yet? I'm sure you could keep teaching until we go to the hospital." Hawks asks, changing the subject quickly.
"I decided to take my leave a week before the due date, which means next week."
The hero nods in understanding. "I've already talked to my sidekicks so when the time comes I'll fly right over."
"Are you gonna fly me to the hospital?" (Y/n) asks and laughs softly.
"Of course. I wouldn't waste time on a cab or an ambulance. Plus the maid was instructed to clean up if your water breaks here at home."
(Y/n) blushes and looks away. "I'd feel awful if she had to clean that up."
"It's her job to clean up?" He responds confused.
The woman rolls her eyes and eats her ice cream.

Hours later Hawks is startled awake by his wife screaming in pain.
(Y/n) pants heavily and grips the bedsheets.
Keigo looks at his wife and sees her water had broken during the night.
His instincts immediately took over.
While the woman is trying to keep her breathing even her husband is running around like a chicken without a head.
The (h/c) manages to sit up and move to the edge of the bed.
Hawks finishes and picks her up, screw shoes and jackets.
His wings spread and he bolts out of the house.

As the hospital room echoes with cries and screams Keigo squeezes his wife's hands.
"You're doing great (Y/n)." The doctor compliments.
The woman's vision blurs and she stops screaming and crying.
Her breathing is ragged as her eyes roll back.
"(Y/n)? (Y/n) stay with us. Keep pushing. The baby is almost out." The doctor slaps her thigh gently.
"Baby bird?" Hawks inquires and slaps his wife's cheek gently. "Come on."
"We're losing her!" The doctor yells.
The heart monitor starts going crazy and Hawks panics.
"Get him out of here." The doctor instructs and a couple nurses try dragging the hero out.
Obviously the blonde fights back. "No! Let me stay. (Y/n)!" He yells desperately.

Suddenly the monitor flatlines and the doctor immediately uses the defibrillators to restart her heart.
Unfortunately it doesn't work.
Neither do chest compressions or mouth to mouth.
"We need to do an emergency c-section." The doctor mumbles and the nurses nod.
"I can-"
"Get him out." The doctor orders.
Hawks kicks and yells as the nurses throw him out.

Keigo's eyes widen as he yells and wakes up quickly.
He looks around and sees he's in his bed, in his pjs and his wife is next to him.
She groans quietly as she wakes up and looks at him.
Hawks looks down at her and kisses her forehead.
"What happened?"
"Just a nightmare."
"What happened?" She repeats, her voice still raspy.
"You died in childbirth. I lost you both." He simplifies and holds her close.
She smiles softly and puts his hand on her bump.
The baby kicks and Keigo manages a small smile.
"You won't lose us. I'm too tough to give up. And technology has come a long way, very few women die in childbirth."

Hawks closes his eyes and concentrates on the heartbeat he feels from her bump.
"Let's go back to bed ok?" (Y/n) pets his hair gently.
The blonde sighs but nods. "Ok."
The woman curls into her husband's chest and he holds her close.
"I will protect you, I promise." He whispers into her hair.
(Y/n) smiles when he starts playing with her hair and falls back asleep.
After a while Keigo manages to fall asleep as well.
