Chapter 10
Spit out faster than he'd been dragged in, the Vestigial realm expelled Katsuki. The crackling electricity flickered, then vanished into thin air.
"DAMMIT!" Katsuki's roar shook the room, the chair toppling as he leaped up. Frustration coiled his muscles; fists clenched, trembling with bottled fury. The nurse barged in, alarmed due to the commotion, but Katsuki's glare shut her up. "It's fine, alright? Everything's fucking fine," he growled, sharp and dismissive. The nurse hesitated, then wisely backed off slightly.
Son of a bitch! I was so goddamn close! If I could've just blasted through that fucking barrier!
Turning away from the nurse, Katsuki stomped towards the window, his footsteps heavy and purposeful. His whole body shook with pent-up rage as he unleashed a barrage of curses under his breath. How the hell did he fail? How did he let Izuku slip through his fingers? Izuku had been within reach, and yet Katsuki had failed to bring him back. The realization left him feeling utterly pathetic, a hero who couldn't even save the one person who truly meant something to him—the one person who mattered.
Taking a deep, ragged breath, Katsuki spun around to face Izuku. His crimson eyes burned with determination and vulnerability. He meant every goddamn word he had shouted in that fucking vestigial world. He'd wait. As long as it took for that green-haired idiot to wake the hell up.
Even if it meant years in this godforsaken room, Katsuki wouldn't waver, wouldn't falter. He'd be there, watching over Izuku like a damn guardian angel, ready to protect him when he finally opened his eyes.

A few days drifted by since the decision to transfer Deku to a long-term ICU. Katsuki sat in the UA break room, surrounded by superiors, heatedly discussing his friend's care. All Might insisted on footing the bill for top-notch treatment at a research facility in the town's university. After that was settled, the idiots were more concerned about visitation rights restrictions and the potential danger it could pose to Izuku.
"The fuck do you mean I don't have visitation rights? I'm gonna see him, and no one's gonna stop me!" Katsuki's voice boomed with an unmistakable edge of defiance. Like they had any damn right to keep me away from him.
In the ongoing debate, Katsuki stood his ground like a rock. Aizawa tried feeding him the protocol crap—full work-ups, no visitors for weeks unless you were in the special visitation list. But Katsuki, stubborn as hell, didn't give a shit and sure as hell didn't budge a single inch. Who decided he wasn't VIP enough for a special pass? Aizawa, with an annoying shrug, informed him that he had to tag along on the day of the transport to get registered in the hospital system. That's what he fucking thought.
After the other teachers cleared out of the lounge, All Might sat up, eyes scanning the room before settling on Katsuki.
All Might took the opportunity to bring up the conversation about him feeling something from OFA. "Young Bakugo, did you Perhaps gain entry into OFA..." he said, watching for any sort of reaction. Katsuki grip on his bag tightening, his gaze avoiding theirs as he tapped his foot impatiently.
At the mere mention of the vestigial world, Katsuki closed up immediately, saying he didn't want to talk about Aizawa, confused, stopped stirring his coffee. All Might tried to push the subject, asking again.
"Yeah, maybe I gained entry into that One For All shit. So what? I turned down the goddamn offer. If I take it, that means the damn nerd can finally let go and give up. I'm not gonna fucking let that happen," Katsuki muttered through gritted teeth, struggling to contain his simmering anger.
