Chapter 31

It was one am, and Katsuki made his way towards the location marked on the map. He found himself venturing into the outskirts of the city, leaving behind the familiar urban landscape for a desolate and industrial setting. The once bustling streets transformed into quieter roads, lined with abandoned warehouses and factories.

The area exuded an eerie silence, broken only by the distant hum of machinery and the occasional gust of wind through overgrown vegetation. Neglected and abandoned, the buildings stood as weathered sentinels, their broken windows and graffiti-covered walls remnants of a forgotten time.

Katsuki's steps echoed through the empty streets as he cautiously approached the designated warehouse. Its worn exterior, with chipped and rusty metal siding, revealed the passage of time. The large doors, once used for transporting goods, now partially ajar, hinted at the mysteries within. It seemed untouched for years, yet an air of foreboding and hidden secrets lingered.

Katsuki had been briefed on the situation involving Odd Eye crew, but the available information was limited. The elusive villain had left a trail of chaos and destruction across Japan, making them a prime target for his agency. There were no reports on the head of the LOV but Katsuki knew from secret sources that Odd Eye possessed a dangerous combination of intellect, agility, and a formidable quirk.

As the heroes waited in the shadows, Katsuki's impatience grew. Finally, a report came through his earpiece. "Reporting in. I'm detecting about 20 heat signatures inside, but my quirk is encountering strange interference from underground. Not sure if it's relevant. There are four floors, and four signatures are on the top level. Over."

Katsuki's ears perked up at the report. He listened intently, his focus sharpening upon hearing about bodies within the warehouse. The hero within him stirred, ready to face whatever awaited.

"Copy that," Katsuki responded through his earpiece. "Stay fucking alert and proceed with caution. We need to neutralize the threat and rescue any potential hostages."

With his fellow heroes stationed around the perimeter, Katsuki took a deep breath, preparing himself for the challenges ahead. He approached the partially open doors of the warehouse, his senses heightened as he stepped inside.

Inside, the warehouse revealed a labyrinth of corridors, rooms, and storage spaces. Shadows lurked around every corner, adding to the prevailing unease. The air carried a mix of stale odors and a lingering sense of something more sinister.

Katsuki moved cautiously through the warehouse, flanked by two silent companions. The dimly lit corridors twisted and turned, creating a disorienting maze as they faded into darkness. Every step seemed to echo through the empty spaces, heightening their awareness of potential threats hiding in the darkness around them.

As they ventured deeper, the sound of movement reached their ears—a subtle shuffling that sent a jolt of adrenaline through Katsuki's veins. He signaled his comrades to halt, and they listened intently, senses sharpened for further signs of activity.

In the darkness, Katsuki's palms crackled with sparks from his explosive quirk, casting an eerie glow that illuminated the immediate vicinity. Suddenly, a grey Nomu's face emerged right in front of him, its vacant eyes locking onto his with unsettling intensity.

"Holy shit," was all he managed to blurt out.

Katsuki's heart skipped a beat as time seemed to freeze. The grotesque creature's face, so close yet so foreign, sent a shiver down his spine. Its piercing gaze seemed to penetrate his very being, terrifying him to the core.
