Chapter 18
After breakfast, Katsuki gathered Izuku's prescribed medications, his hands deftly rummaging through the bag. Izuku's hesitant whisper caught his attention. "Do I have to take the antidepressant? It makes me feel weird."
Katsuki glanced at him, his expression a mix of annoyance and concern. "Haa? You need to take everything the damn hospital gave me," he asserted, shaking the white bag filled with pill vials.
Shrugging, Katsuki prepared the medications and handed them over to Izuku. Sighing, Izuku reluctantly took the pills, swallowing them as if he had no choice. Katsuki then wheeled him over to the couch by the window, where he could watch some TV and allow him to acclimate to the apartment. He caried him gently, putting him on the couch.
"When was the last time you felt the sun?" Katsuki mused, half-saying it to himself as he opened the blinds, inviting the morning sunlight to bathe the room. Izuku shivered in delight, closing his eyes as the warm rays caressed his pale skin. In that moment, Katsuki couldn't help but notice how the light seemed to breathe life into Izuku's form, after years of being inside, the sun must have been a welcoming sense of comfort.
Grabbing a blanket from the nearby loveseat, Katsuki draped it over Izuku's waist, making sure he stayed warm and comfortable. With gentle fingers, he adjusted the oxygen line on Izuku's face, his rough fingers causing a slight tickling sensation that made Izuku scrunch his nose in response. Crimson eyes watched Izuku intently. A small hint of disappointment at the reaction to his touch.
Now that he and Izuku were alone, the desire to be closer to him pulsed through Katsuki's veins, tempting him to cross boundaries and act upon his instincts. Maybe if I...
His finger traced the side of the oxygen line, grazing Izuku's cheek gently. Izuku's eyes fluttered open, their gaze meeting, and a blush crept up his cheeks. "Uhh... what—what's wrong?" he stammered, fidgeting with his sweater.
Katsuki smirked, his amusement evident. "Nothing, just making sure you're still all there," he replied, his voice carrying a teasing tone. Izuku's face turned a shade of red that spread all the way to his ears, opening his mouth to reply and then shutting it. Katsuki chuckled, finding Izuku's flustered reaction absolutely adorable. But he knew he had to tread carefully. It wasn't fair to overwhelm Izuku with his feelings, not when he was still recovering and adjusting to being back in the world. Besides, Katsuki couldn't be certain if Izuku would reciprocate the same feelings.
Patience, idiot. Gotta be patient.
Shaking off his thoughts, Katsuki turned away, grabbing the TV remote. "Deku. I'm gonna put on that All Might movie you were obsessed with when we were brats, so I can get some work done without being bothered," he declared, scrolling through the apps until he found the movie. Izuku covered his face with the blanket, settling comfortably on the couch, mesmerized by the TV.
"I'll be sitting at the table. Let me know if you need something," Katsuki said, his tone firm yet caring. "Rest up for a few days, get comfortable. Next week, we'll start physical therapy. Got it?"
Izuku hummed in response, acknowledging Katsuki's instructions. Left with some snacks and a glass of juice, Katsuki directed his attention to the pile of neglected work. He sighed, his gaze occasionally drifting back to the mess of green hair resting on the couch. Another movie played in the background, its soothing sound providing a backdrop for Katsuki's thoughts.
Hours passed as Katsuki exchanged emails with his agency, the mounting paperwork demanding his attention. Despite his focus on work, his eyes frequently wandered back to Izuku, who had fallen asleep on the couch. The events of the past few days had taken a toll on him, Katsuki could tell he was physically stressed.
