Chapter 23

Katsuki's POV

Katsuki's jaw tightened in annoyance as he held the phone away from his ear, listening to Aizawa's voice barking at him. He stood in the kitchen, tired as hell, dressed only in a tank top and boxers. This morning, the first thing Katsuki did was check Izuku's medications.

Turns out there were no Anti-depressant medications among the prescription bottles meaning Izuku hadn't been getting his meds for over a month. It was a major fuck-up, and now he had to deal with this infuriating phone call.

Katsuki could feel his irritation grow as Aizawa continued to scold him over the phone. He knew how crucial Izuku's medication was, and he couldn't believe he hadn't noticed the missing pills earlier. No wonder Izuku had been acting so emotionless and distant lately. He made a mental note to double-check Izuku's medications from now on.

"Look, I know I fucked up," Katsuki interrupted Aizawa's rant. "But I'll make sure Deku gets his medication from now on. I just need you to get them so he can fucking take them."

There was a momentary silence on the other end before Aizawa let out a weary sigh. "Fine, but I'm going to come over and check on him. Recovery Girl needs to assess his condition and decide if she can fully heal him now, and I need to figure out what's going on with him. He shouldn't have gone this long without it."

Katsuki nodded, even though Aizawa couldn't see him. "Yeah, whatever."

He hung up the phone, clicking his tongue in frustration. He knew he should have been more attentive to Izuku's needs, but there was no use crying over this mess now.

Making his way to the living room, Katsuki found Izuku sitting at the Kotatsu, engrossed in a video game. He took a seat next to him, watching as Izuku's hand trembled while trying to control the game. The physical therapy and movement intensive objects like a controller had helped to regain control of his hands and fingers. Clearing his throat, Katsuki prepared to have a serious conversation.

"Oi, Deku. I need to talk to you about something damn important, so listen up." he said, his voice serious and direct.

Izuku looked up from the game, his expression curious. "Yes?" Katsuki could see that after last night's actions Izuku had perked up some, albeit small but there was a noticeable difference in the way he responded to Katsuki.

Katsuki took a deep breath. "It turns out that you haven't been taking one of your damn meds for over a month now. It's that anti-depressant crap that's supposed to regulate your mood and emotions."

Izuku's eyes widened in surprise. "I haven't been taking my medication? but I take them every day?"

Katsuki hesitated, unsure if he should tell Izuku the truth about his own negligence. But he knew he had to come clean. "I didn't realize that shit was missing from your damn prescription bottles. It's my fault."

A mixture of shock and understanding washed over Izuku's face. "Well... that explains a lot," he said softly, his gaze shifting as he processed the revelation as he put the controller down.

Izuku began to fidget with his fingers before laying his palms flat on the table. His disfigured hand trembled as he tried to extend it against the cold table. "If I'm being honest Katsuki... I feel a little better today because of... well everything you told me last night. "
