Chapter 27

After dinner, they settled into bed, and Izuku quickly fell asleep, exhausted from the day's events Katsuki watched as Izuku's breathing evened out, feeling a deep sense of contentment wash over him. Damn it, Deku always had a way of making him feel like this, and it pissed him off. But at the same time, he had always been protective of Izuku, even when they were kids, even though he hated to admit it, but now it was different. Now he without a doubt understood why.

As he watched Izuku sleep, Katsuki couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier that day. He was tired of having close calls, and now that he was returning to the hero scene, he made up his mind to work even harder at his agency, to take down Odd Eye and any other threats. To stop harm from coming Izuku's way. He leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to Izuku's forehead, feeling his own heart swell with love and affection.

I won't let anything happen to him, not again.

It was embarrassing how much he cared, but he couldn't help it. Deku had become an integral part of his life in the short time he had been back, and he couldn't imagine it any other way.

Pulling back slightly, he couldn't help but gaze at Izuku's peaceful face, his fingers gently brushing a strand of hair away. His eyes trailed to the scar across Izuku's eyebrow, a mark of the battles he had fought, and it caught his attention.

Katsuki's fingers traced gently over Izuku's face, taking in every detail, as he followed the path of the scar across his eyebrow. His touch then wandered to the scars on Izuku's arm, feeling the roughness under his fingertips. Izuku shivered slightly but didn't stir.

He knew every scar on Izuku's body, each mark told a story of pain and resilience, a remnants of the battles Izuku had fought and survived. He remembered how terrified he was back then, refusing to leave Izuku's side, not willing to lose him.

Now, gazing at Izuku's peaceful face, a sense of determination swelled within him. I'll protect him. No matter what it takes, I'll keep him safe. Leaning in again, he pressed a gentle kiss to the scar on Izuku's eyebrow, silently promising to never let anything hurt him again.

Katsuki settled back into the bed, pulling the blanket up to cover Izuku's bare chest. The warmth in his heart grew, and he knew, without a doubt, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Izuku. He was determined to make that a reality.

Izuku stirred slightly, lazily opening an eye to watch him. The moonlight glinted off the metal on Katsuki's finger, and Izuku's gaze fell on the silver ring with the fleck of emerald. It was the only piece of jewelry Katsuki ever wore, It had always piqued his curiosity, and now he couldn't help but ask, his voice heavy with sleep, "Kacchan, why do you always wear that ring?"

Katsuki's eyes softened as he glanced down at the ring, his fingers instinctively caressing its smooth surface. "Uh, this?" he replied, trying to sound nonchalant as light blush spreading across his cheeks. He had forgotten that he was wearing it. "It's just a ring, I guess. But it's special to me because... it reminds me of you."

He cleared his throat, feeling a little self-conscious, and looked away. "I got it after high school, on the day of graduation. I wanted something to remind me of you, something to hold onto while you were... while you were gone."

Katsuki hesitated, then took a deep breath and looked back at Izuku, feeling the heat creeping up his face and ears. "I know it sounds stupid, but... I guess I just wanted to feel like you were still with me, in some damn way."
