Chapter 22
Izuku POV
It was still the middle of the night when they reached the top floor. Katsuki gently set Izuku down on the couch before disappearing into the bathroom. Left alone with his thoughts, Izuku's mind couldn't help but drift back to the events that had unfolded. The gravity of his actions weighed heavily on him, and the realization that he had come so close to the edge shook him to his core. How had he reached such a dark point in his life, where he had almost attempted to take his own life?
Thoughts raced through Izuku's mind, and panic started to take hold. How had he let himself get to this point? He had almost committed suicide because he believed he had no one left, that he was all alone in the world. But Katsuki had been there for him, had saved him, and had even confessed his love for him. It was a lot to take in, especially for someone who had been struggling with self-worth and acceptance for so long.
Could someone like Katsuki, so strong, talented, and confident, truly care about him, let alone love him? It felt like a surreal dream, a reality he couldn't quite grasp.
"Give me your leg, I'm going to bandage it," Katsuki's voice brought Izuku back to the present. He returned with a first aid kit, sitting down beside Izuku, and began gently cleaning his wounds. The antiseptic stung, and Izuku winced, but he endured it, captivated by Katsuki's gentle and careful movements. The weariness of the night began to take its toll, the adrenaline rush fading away.
As Katsuki wrapped the bandages around Izuku's injured leg he let his mind wander, thinking about everything that had happened between them from the moment he had woken up in the hospital. He had always felt that there was something special about Katsuki; in middle school, from what he could remember, he was loud and had an abrasive personality. His fierce desire to be the best was extremely dominating when challenged. It was terrifying to know that someone of his demeanor wanted to be a hero.
When he saw the blonde enter his hospital room for the first time, he didn't recognize him at first. But as he stood there, the overwhelming aura that poured off him made itself clear to Izuku, who was there. He was absolutely terrified; those memories of Katsuki's relentless bullying had sent shivers down Izuku's spine.
Izuku always felt a sense of curiosity towards Katsuki, but his aggressive behavior left him afraid to explore his feelings further. But as Izuku encountered Katsuki again after the accident, something had changed. The overwhelming aura surrounding him remained, but there was a newfound sense of caring and compassion that peeked through his rough exterior. Katsuki's soft words during their first meeting after the coma left Izuku disoriented as if he was witnessing two different sides of the same person.
But as he got to know Katsuki better, Izuku discovered that there was more to him than his explosive temper. He saw glimpses of a caring and compassionate person underneath the rough exterior, and Katsuki had become fiercely protective of him for some reason. When Katsuki whispered those three words, Izuku's mind swirled with a whirlwind of thoughts. Although he felt warmth spread through his chest, doubts and insecurities crept in.
Izuku's eyes took in the strong angles of Katsuki's jawline and the determination that seemed to radiate from him. As he expertly wrapped the bandages around Izuku's injured leg, his hands moved with surprising grace and precision. But what struck Izuku the most was the tenderness in Katsuki's touch, a side of him that he had never witnessed before. Each movement was gentle and deliberate as if he was afraid of causing Izuku any more pain. It made him question the layers of complexity that lay hidden beneath the surface.
