Chapter 51

The moment the door handle started to jiggle Izuku jolted awake, nearly catapulting himself out of Katsuki's protective embrace. His eyes flew open wide, a wild and panicked look in his gaze as he scanned the unfamiliar surroundings. Instinctively, Katsuki clamped down on Izuku, trying to keep him from giving their hideout away.

God dammit Nerd calm down!

Izuku immediately tried to flay not registering where he was when Katsuki cupped Izuku's face, locking eyes with him to silently communicate the need for calm, silently reassuring him to stay calm. Izuku's breaths came in rapid bursts, but as he met Katsuki's piercing stare, the wildness in his eyes began to recede slightly. And to Katsuki's relief Izuku relaxed ever so slightly.

They couldn't afford to be caught now, not after coming this far. Katsuki's senses were on a hair-trigger, muscles coiled, as the door burst open with a deafening crash. Through the narrow gaps between stacked crates, Katsuki could make out two shadowy figures clad in ominous attire. The room's interior was bathed in eerie light seeping through the open doorway, painting unsettling shadows on the cluttered space.

As the intruders entered, Katsuki strained to eavesdrop on their conversation, every nerve in his body taut, ready to spring into action at the slightest hint of them being found. His fingers instinctively reached for his dead earpiece, a frustrated grunt escaping his lips as he remembered its uselessness.

His eyes flicked back and forth, dissecting the intruders' every move and spoken word.

"The heroes managed to slip in and out under all of our damn noses. But Jet Fuel said he split them up. He said they went this way. We need to find them before they cause any more trouble." One of the intruders grumbled, his voice dripping with frustration.

Izuku's body was rigid against Katsuki's as he too watched through the slits in the boxes. His pupils were almost narrowed to slits that glinted with a feral intensity, mirroring that of a cornered wild animal ready to strike. Izuku's lips curled slightly, and a low, almost growling sound escaped his throat. It was a warning, a subtle but unmistakable display of aggression. Katsuki couldn't help but be taken aback by the intensity radiating from Izuku.

The other figure nodded in agreement. "Keep your eyes peeled. They may have split up to cover more ground. We can't afford to let them escape."

The first one scoffed, "No way in hell, supposedly one hero was lugging around that prisoner Odd Eye had been torturing."

"Odd Eye will have our heads on a platter if we can't track down the One For All user," the other hissed.

Katsuki's grip on Izuku tightened as he listened to the conversation unfolding before them. His eyes smoldered with anger and disgust. He had to protect Izuku and make sure they both made it out of this alive.

The intruders continued to discuss the situation; their voices hushed as the conversation about Odd Eye continued. Fear seeped from their words, chilling Katsuki's bones.

"I heard Odd Eye personally oversaw the torture of that One For All user," one of them whispered, his voice trembled slightly. "I heard about the things he did to that kid... it's beyond cruel. And you know I've seen some seriously messed-up crap."

"Odd Eye's on a whole 'nother level of sadism," the other muttered, his voice quaking with fear. "I've seen firsthand what that dick is capable of. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."
