Chapter 32

Concern welled up within Kirishima as he steadied himself, his red hair reflecting the dim light in the chamber. He understood the depths of Katsuki's struggle, having witnessed it firsthand during their rescue missions in the past. He had seen Katsuki's resilience, his unwavering spirit, and the strength that resided within him. Kirishima's strong, calloused hand gently covered Katsuki's clenched fist on his shoulder, offering support and understanding.

"Bakugo," Kirishima spoke with a gentle yet unwavering voice, his own red eyes locking with Katsuki's intense gaze. "I'm here with you. We've been through this before, remember? You showed incredible strength then, and you'll do the same now. We'll find a way out together, just like you did back then."

Katsuki's grip on Kirishima's shoulder relaxed slightly, his fiery eyes softening for a moment as he took in his friend's reassuring words. But before he could fully process their moment of solace, a loud banging sound abruptly echoed through the chamber, snapping them back to alertness. Their attention shifted towards the wall next to them, where the noise seemed to originate. The air grew tense with anticipation as they watched and listened intently, the shadows dancing in the dim light.

But just as abruptly as the banging had started, it ceased, replaced by a faint hissing sound and a sense of unease crept over him. He recognized that sound all too well. It was the distinct hiss of acid, and it meant someone was coming through. A surge of adrenaline coursed through him as he prepared for whatever lay ahead.

A muffled voice, soft yet determined, called out from the other side of the wall. "Mina?" Kirishima called out, his voice tinged with hope and concern. "Is that you? Are you alright?"

The hissing sound grew louder, accompanied by the shifting of debris, and moments later, Mina emerged from the partially dissolved wall, her body coated in a protective layer of her acid. Her bright pink hair was disheveled, and her face was smeared with dirt, but her determination shone through.

"Yeah, it's me!" Mina replied, her voice slightly hoarse from exertion. "I heard the explosion and managed to follow your trail. Looks like you got yourself into quite a mess. But no worries—I made an exit!"

With Mina's arrival, Katsuki wasted no time, his adrenaline pumping as he scrambled through the opening she had made, eager to break free from the confining darkness. The fresh air outside brought a sense of relief, and he took a moment to catch his breath, his chest heaving with exertion. He wiped away the sweat from his brow, his hands still trembling slightly from the rush of emotions and glanced back at Mina and Kirishima, who were following closely behind him.

As Katsuki caught his breath and regained his composure, he turned his attention back to the task at hand. He asked Mina about the report and whether Odd Eye had been caught. The answer that followed brought a surge of frustration and disappointment.

Mina shook her head, her voice tinged with regret. "I'm sorry, Kat. Despite our best efforts, no one from our squad was able to apprehend Odd Eye. We caught a handful of people, but the rest were Nomu. He managed to slip away."

"Son of a bitch!" Katsuki cursed, his voice dripping with anger. His frustration reached its peak, igniting a fire within him that burned hotter than the flames he could create with his quirk. The fact that Odd Eye had been so close, yet still managed to slip away, only made him more irate.

"We had him right there!" Katsuki growled through gritted teeth pointing at the rubble. "All our efforts, all that damn planning, and he still managed to slip through our fucking fingers!"
