Chapter 34
As they exited the aquarium, the warm glow of the setting sun greeted them, casting a golden hue over the cityscape. Kirishima turned to Katsuki, a smile playing on his lips.
"Hey, before we split, we were headed to dinner," Kirishima announced, his voice carrying an underlying sense of excitement. "We're actually meeting a few of our old classmates tonight. I thought it would be a great chance for everyone to catch up, especially since Izuku is out and about again."
Katsuki's gaze flickered toward Izuku, who stood a few steps away, engrossed in inspecting his newly acquired sea turtle plush. He hesitated for a moment, considering Izuku's comfort.
Katsuki met Kirishima's gaze for a moment, contemplating his response. He was hesitant about joining a gathering with their old classmates. Social interactions weren't exactly his forte, and he preferred to keep his circle small. But as he watched Izuku's face light up with joy, a thought crossed his mind.
Maybe being around their friends would be good for Izuku. After all, they were already out and about, and seeing Izuku's happiness was worth stepping out of his comfort zone for a little while.
I'm gonna regret this.
"Yeah? Who's all coming?" Katsuki asked, unamused.
Kirishima's grin widened as he began listing the names. "Well, there's Uraraka, Iida, Momo, and Sero," Kirishima replied. "And Mina mentioned inviting Todoroki and Kaminari too."
"Fine," Katsuki said, his tone gruff. "But don't expect me to be all chatty and shit. And I'm not gonna pretend to enjoy it. If Deku feels overwhelmed or anything, we're bailing."
Kirishima chuckled, knowing Katsuki's reluctance was just part of his nature.
"Thanks, man," Kirishima replied as his hand landed on Katsuki's shoulder. "I know it's not your thing, but it'll mean a lot to everyone to see you not just you there but him as well."
Katsuki glanced over at Izuku, who was still engrossed with his plush, before calling him over. Izuku turned his attention toward Katsuki, his eyes widening with anticipation as he noticed the serious expression on his friend's face.
"Nerd," Katsuki called out, his voice slightly softer than usual. "They want us to join them for dinner with our old classmates. Kirishima thought it would be a good chance for everyone to catch up."
Katsuki's fingers drummed on his thigh impatiently as he observed Izuku's eyes widen with anticipation. He was practically jumping with joy.
"Really? That's amazing!" Izuku exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine happiness. "I've been hoping to see everyone again and talk about what they've been up to. Plus, it'll be great to reconnect with them." Izuku gushed.
Katsuki couldn't help but feel a small twinge of satisfaction at Izuku's reaction. Seeing him so enthusiastic reminded him of the times they had spent together during their U.A. days. It also reassured him that joining the gathering was the right decision.
"Yeah, well, don't get too carried away," Katsuki replied, trying to maintain his tough demeanor. "And if it gets overwhelming or anything, we're leaving. Got it?"
Izuku's head bobbed in a rapid nod, a wide smile plastered on his face.
As Katsuki and Izuku arrived at the restaurant where their old classmates were gathering, they were surprised to find out that it wasn't just any ordinary place for dinner.
