In the shadow of Hermione Granger.

Charms class

Tuesday October 23rd

Halfway through Charms class a note appears on my desk, I open it and the note says: "Meet me in the library after class - S.N"

I think to myself Who is S.N? I think about it for a long time, and then it hits me. S.N is Sebastian Newton. I look around to find him. He is sitting two rows behind me on my right. I get eye contact with him, and I nod as to say, I'll be there.

I'm writing notes for the exams, when I hear my name get called: "Miss Granger, can you answer my question?"

"Sorry sir, I didn't hear the question, can you repeat it please?"

Professor Flitwick: "What does the charm Lumos provide?"

"Darkness sir" I answered way too fast; I didn't know what I said but it sounded wrong, I hear the laughter around me and I say: "Sorry, I meant light, I meant light sir"

Professor Flitwick: "Good Miss Granger, very good"

I feel the embarrassment, I just want to disappear away from this room and away from the judging eyes. I look over to my right to see Hermione, but I forgot that we don't have charms together, if she was here she would just have shaked her head at me, and she would think that  I'm stupid, I'm nothing else than Hermione Granger's dumb little sister who can't even get a simple question right, everyone knows that Lumos is light, not darkness, how stupid can I be.

A few more questions are asked, and everyone is getting them right, I think to myself: "If Professor Flitwick ask me again, I need to answer it correctly" and then Professor Flitwick asks: "Why would you cast Alohomora?"

I know the answer to this one I know I do; I slowly raise my hand in confidence, I see that a lot of other students also have their hand raised as well, I pray that Professor Flitwick will pick me, he looks at me, points his wand in my direction and says: "Yes, Miss Granger".

I am a bit confused, mostly because I forgot that Hermione isnt here, again but she would also have her hand raised and we normally sit beside each other, but then Professor Flitwick says: "Harlow granger, do you know the answer or not?" I quickly nod and say: "To unlock a door or chest, sir" 

Professor Flitwick: "Correct"

Professor Flitwick asks a few more questions and then says: "I think that was it for today, class dismissed".

Everyone eagerly packs their books together, and I see from the corner of my eye that Ginny is heading my way. 

Ginny comes over to me and says: "Harlow, what did the note say?" I can hear the excitement in her voice, I just shake my head at her and says: "Do you need to know everything?" I just say that in fun, I will tell her eventually but she doesn't need to know everything right away. She is eager to know and it can clearly be heard in her voice: "Oh come on, I'm your best friend, I deserve to know"

"Not if its notes, they are private" I give her a look saying "I'm not telling you"

Ginny: "I especially get to know if its notes"

"And why is that?"

Ginny: "Because I'm your best friend"

She is getting impatient.

"You'll know it eventually".

Ginny: "But I need to know now"

I give up, she's hopeless, either she hears it from me or a rumour that I met with Sebastian Newton.

"Fine, the note said to meet someone in the library".

Ginny: "Who?"

She's almost jumping from excitement.

"It's Sebastian"

Ginny: "Sebastian, as in Sebastian Newton"

"Yes, its Sebastian Newton, I need to go now he is waiting for me".

I wave goodbye to Ginny and then head to the library.
