Four Years Ago
Unknown POV
I knew The Scorned One before she became it, I knew her from when she was just a ordinary girl who showed up one day by chance.
I was sitting on the counter smoking a cig wondering what to do to past the time today. My foster family owned a small motel in the middle of nowhere so they wanted a front girl but didn't want to pay any money for one. We barely get any people around here but the people we usually get were rouges, criminals, dealers, all the odd people looking for a place to stay for a night or two. Either it be werewolves or vampires or even humans, I didn't really care about anyone who stayed enough to remember their faces. All but one.
It was in the middle of a dark, stormy night. A blizzard was pasting through so I thought I could just take a nap but then I heard a small rattle. The creaky wooden door open, in came staggering a small frail girl my age. She was wearing tattered clothing, a jacket that looked like it was run over by a car, her hair was as black as the night, it was grown out draping all over her body, all messy and scattered. She was holding on tightly to a black and grey knife while shivering all over, there was a burned mark on her eyes which makes her look so lifeless, they were milky white as if she had clouds in her eyes.
I was in a trance, she was dressed as a beggar but in my eyes she looked so beautiful. I coughed on my cig then I put it out as I sat straight and asked in a dry and raspy voice,"What do you need?"
She held on to the counter for support, she looked like she could fall as any moment. She grabbed two silver coins from her coat pocket and threw them at the counter, she said in a whisper,"One...One night."
I nodded and gave her a key, she took it. She tilled her head and said,"Which way?"
I thought to myself, this poor girl, so she is really blind. I got up, it took a while to adjust since I hadn't gotten up in a while. I said,"This way." I took her hand, which she violently shook off, hold up her knife, nervously pointing it at me.
I held up my hands and said akwardly,"Sorry, sorry, but it will be easier to just show you like this. Please?"
She hesitated but nodded distrustfully, I took her hand gently, her hand were soft but cold, like the feeling of snow. As we walked together I noted that she was shorter than me, kind off like bite size almost. I opened the door and said,"You can leave the key at the counter tomorrow morning."
She walked inside, I left while lighting up another cig, wondering if I'll see her tomorrow. Clatter. I dropped my cigarette and immediately ran to her room. I was gasping when I got there, my lungs hurt. I looked to see what happened, she had tripped on a table while trying to take off her clothing.
I sat down and immediately took her hand and looked all over and said,"Are you hurt?"
She was too weak to talk, she looked like she had hyperthermia, her clothes were wet and damp with water that froze over.
"Here, let me,"I tried to take off her jacket but she struggled to get away from me. I grabbed her wrists and looked at her straight,"You will die if you don't let me help you, I know you've been through a lot. I can tell, but please trust me a little on this, okay?"
She was silent and stopped struggling, I helped her take off her jacket and stripped her to her undergarments. She was covered in scars, there were more especially on her back. This poor girl. I helped her get up and I turned on the heater and we both sat next to it. I held on to her even after doing this, stroking her hair while rocking her like a baby.
I involuntary whispered to her ear,"You haven't slept it a while have you? Everything is going to be alright now."
She slowly relaxed and closed her eyes, falling asleep in my arms... I woke up the next morning to the sound off rain fall outside, I looked out the window and said outloud,"Wow it never rains here."
