Vix's POV
It was a bright sunny afternoon in Rain's pack, the wind was soft and kind, the grass was glisten, the trees leaves shined against the sun. Thanks to the barrier I put up, it looked like summer despite being in the middle of the frozen tundra. A perfect day for her funeral.
We were at the bottom of the cliff where all the mazes of tents and makeshift houses were all set up. Usually you could always hear the crowds busying with life but today it was silent and empty. We were at a distance from there on a small hill, next to a huge oak tree. Combining the wolves officially part of the pack and the rouges who hand around, about one hundred wolves were stand before us on the hill side. All looking sad and somber, some wept, others tried to keep a strong face infront of the pack. All of the wolves of the chain of command stood beside me, Gem the Gamma and Lain the honorary member of the pack, Ben the Beta, and Crass, who had suddenly chosen to show up.
He was wearing his usual fur coat and his brown hair was messy and ruffled with his yellow eyes filled with shame. Many stared and glared at him but no one said anything as he stood next to us, but I saw Ben eyes glazed over mindlinking him something.
She was in a black coffin that was in a hole deep a few feet into the ground, I suggested a coffin knowing fully well of the joke behind it. I looked at the tombstone we made, it was a sleek stone tablet with the etching of Rain Light engraved, in small words bellow that said, the strongest who ever lived. I almost chuckled reading that. I held on to her two dual wielding swords that she loved so much. They were both made of shadow stone, pure black metal that shined against the sun, there was no guards on either of the blades and they were loosely wrapped up in gray cloth that served as grips. The blades were mismatched and deformed, it was a wonder how she fought with this.
I gripped them closely as Ben began to speak in a slow and calm voice,"We are gathered here today to mourned the lost of our Alpha, Rain Light."
Wolves griped their first, others were crying, he stepped forward and looked at the crowd of wolves, he balled his fist and shouted,"But in no way was her death was weak!! She fought valiantly and sacrificed so much to protect us, we are lost pups who she took in out of the kindness of her own heart!!"
Wolves cheered, if it was out of anger or sorrow I couldn't have know, Ben yelled,"Even though this is a tragic event, this is also cause of celebration!! Rain gracefully gave her life for this pack!! We will celebrate in the honor of her sacrifice!!"
Everyone shouted and screamed, all the wolves, the rouges and the pack then howled in respect and in despair of the lost of their Alpha. Then once everyone calmed down, everyone seemed to be in a slightly better mood.
Ben then looked at me and smiled softly he whispered,"It's now your turn."
I got off the tree and took a deep breath and stepped forward. I looked at the crowd and saw so many faces, all who I came to know like family during the time I've spent here as Rain's girlfriend and Luna. I put on a brave face and said in a loud and clear voice,"As you all know I was Rain's lover, her friend and so much more. I know more than anyone how amazing Rain can be."
I took another peak at the crowd and they all listened intently, not one of them don't think of me as their own. They all treated me like family and so I wanted to try my best to put into words what I could say about Rain to put them at ease but I couldn't. There was just so much that I couldn't form words.
I stood their silent before I said,"Rain would have wanted you all to live your fullest and best life. Don't waste the second chance Rain had given all of you."
Everyone stood their in silence before erupting again with cheers, I walked back to my spot, Lain put a hand on my shoulder to reassure me and I smiled a small one as I leaned against the tree again.
