Chapter 31 : The Battle Before The Storm

Aprix's POV

It was early morning the next day, everyone from my group had already packed up their things and was about to leave. I looked in the distance at Rain's small camp site and sighed,"Do we really have to do this?"

Rox said,"You know we have to get to the crystal first, I know their nice people. Trust me I do, but this is vital to Blood Soul's goals. There only a few more of these crystals out in the world and when we get them, our plan will be complete."

I bit my lip and looked back and said softly,"Sorry Rain."

I looked back and my Blood Soul squadron, I said,"Let's move out!!"

Rain's POV

I woke and found Vix in my sleeping bag sleeping soundly. I smiled a bit but then listened to our surroundings, quiet. That doesn't make any sense, with a group that big there should atleast be some sort of noise. I don't like this. 

I immediately got out, which woke Vix up, I shook Cole and said,"Hey, do you see them?"

He rubbed his eyes and said,"What?"

I woke Lexa and Ariel and Cole looked around,"Wait their gone."

Vix looked at the ground and said,"They packed up a while ago and left."

Lexa stretched and said,"Those bastards are probably trying to take the crystal first."

Ariel scrambled to pack up her things and said,"They already have a huge head start."

I cursed in ancient greek and I took a bit of my med on the side and said,"Comon guys we're running."

A Few Moments Later

"Gods this is embarrassing,"Vix said on my back, while we ran. She's human so if we let her run by herself we would have been slowed down. We raced across the ash valley with werewolf speeds. As we ran I couldn't help but felt a little betrayed by Aprix.

I thought we had connected... I thought we had bonded... No, we agreed whoever got their first would get it. It's fair. We then heard a growl as a corpse like thing flew through the air right at us.

Crap, The Foaming Mouth Disease, I forgot about them since Aprix's group cleared most of them out on the way. Cole took out his sythc and leaped up to cut it.

I yelled,"Don't let it's saliva or any fluids touch your body!!"

Cole twirled in a circular motion and cut the body clean in half. We dodged the corpse as we ran, Lexa yelled,"Wait!!"

I didn't sense it. Me, Ariel and Vix fell through a pitfall of ash and snow. We tumbled and fell right off the edge of a cliff, we began free falling through open air, Crap I can't see. I heared to winds rustling through my ears with my surround feeling completely blank. I heard Aerial screaming as we fell, I tried to move towards her but I had no idea if I was getting close.

What are we going to do? I just gripped my swords tightly as I couldn't do anything else. I'd never felt more useless in my entire life. Were we going to die? I bit my lip feeling full of regret. Out of nowhere I was suddenly yanked by my cloak, I could hear Lexa's voice yelling,"I got you!!"

I then heard Cole's voice on the cliff saying,"I got Ariel and Vix!!"

I sighed in relief as I gripped Lexa's arm tightly as I could. I was relying mostly by sound without my sight all this time, to be in the air means being completely blind. I heard Cole's scythe clashing against rock as Lexa flew us down. We landed and I stumbled a bit, I glad that we were back on solid ground.
