Suigetsu had been feeling the largest bit of regret after the accident, from when he found out to now at work with the two both missing from the shop and at the hospital. Kiba had been ignoring him since the party because he witnessed what happened between Naruto and him. He assumed he knew about Sasuke and Naruto's relationship and probably blamed him for their accident. Which he was coming to the conclusion that he had all right to blame him for it. It was his fault, he shouldn't have pushed for conflict between them so hard. When news got out around the shop that Naruto was awake everyone started writing little get better letters. What no one knew was Suigetsu had visited Naruto the day after the accident. He hadn't left anything for him considering he'd probably be pissed seeing anything left by him. But he was glad he got to see the blonde one last time, it was only right for him to change jobs, he couldn't bare to see himself working at the shop when the two return so he was scoping for a new job in the mean time.
Itachi had told Kiba to stay till close as he was the next up on the totem poll for being in charge. Kiba didn't hesitate to agree knowing it's what Naruto wanted, the blonde wanted Itachi to come as soon as possible.
At the hospital twenty minutes later, Itachi knocked on Naruto's room door. "Come in." The blonde called out, his face expression changed to sorrow when he saw Itachi walk in. His first thought was to apologize but he hadn't even been able to say anything before Itachi came to his bed side and sat down on the edge, leaning in and giving him a hug. "I-Itachi..." Naruto winced from the sudden grasp only due to his leg throbbing, but wouldn't complain as it was a hug he desperately needed. The soft smell of the Uchiha's residence made way through his nostrils, it reminded him solely of Sasuke.
"I'm glad your okay." Itachi said with sadness in his voice. He was completely torn up when he found out about the accident, he was the only number in Sasuke's emergency contact file so when the police needed someone to call they got in contact with him.
The older man let go of the blonde but remained sitting on the edge of the bed. "I'm so sorry..." Naruto said, continuing the conversation from earlier over the phone. "Don't be Naruto... you didn't do anything. It was an accident." Itachi tried to reassure him but the facial expression Naruto was giving told him otherwise.
"He was mad at me...he told me he hated me... and..." Naruto paused for a moment after his heart started to ache just as it did before. "I messed up... I hurt him really bad.." Itachi was confused to say the least, he hasn't understood where the blonde was going with this. "What do you mean he hates you?" The fact of the word hate was even being said nearly threw him over board.
Naruto went on explaining the events that night and it all started to make sense to him now why Sasuke said what he said. Even as his big brother he knew Sasuke only said it out of anger, Itachi understood why he was mad but knew Naruto had no bad intentions. He believed him, and knew if he could go back in time he'd change it. However things happen, and there is no going back now. "I can assure you Sasuke does not hate you." Naruto only frowned and looked down at his lap.
"I know... He told me he loves me... and I love him too..." His voice was scratchy, he was definitely needing water but couldn't think to ask right now. His heart was playing pool in his chest. It would beat hard on one side just for it to cut corners and beat faster on the other. "Itachi..." He mumbled before meeting his eyes with the black orbs staring back at him. "I love him."
Itachi gave a genuine smile and slowly lifted his index and middle finger, bringing it to Naruto's forehead giving it a soft push. "I know." The tears the blonde had been holding off only seemed to fade when Itachi pressed his forehead. "Right now he's healing...and when he wakes up you can be there to tell him yourself."
The nurse came back shortly after Itachi made his leave back to the shop to dismiss Kiba from closing.
She had a small white cup of water and another tiny paper cup with two pills in it. She handed it over to the blonde and before she could explain what they were Naruto took them immediately. He popped the pills and swallowed the water harshly as if he'd been dying for it. "That medicine will make you thirsty, we've been giving it to you via IV, but now that your awake you can take them regularly." She noticed how quickly Naruto drank the water and offered to go get more which the blonde happily agreed.
